Monument of States

The Monument of States was conceived as a symbol of American unity after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and is located at 300 E. Monument Avenue in Kissimmee, Florida. It was built by volunteers, with donations of stone that came from around the world, including a rock from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was the brainchild of Charles W. Bressler-Pettis, who also hoped it would become a unique tourist attraction for the city.

Bataan-Corregidor Memorial

Located at the corner of Lakeshore Boulevard and Monument Avenue. It depicts a scene from the Bataan Death March: two soldiers, one American and the other Filipino, are propping each other up while a Filipino woman is offering water to them. It symbolizes the unique friendship between the U.S. and the Philippines—the two countries fought together during World War II, and the heroism and comradeship between the Americans and Filipinos. It was sculpted by Sandra Storm and is made of bronze. A brick walkway encircles the monument and there are commemorative plaques depicting the history of the Bataan Death March and the Memorial. American and Filipino flags fly side by side. It is the only statue in the U.S. dedicated to the heroes and survivors of the fall of Bataan and Corregidor and the Bataan Death March.

Shingle Creek Regional Park

Shingle Creek is the major water source for Lake Tohopekaliga, which is part of the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes and forms the headwater of the Everglades. Because of the land's significance to the Everglades, the Shingle Creek Management Area is featured site along the Everglades Trail.

Sean was great! Very fun and informative. Clear he cares about the local area. Helped us feel comfortable before going on our own. The guide he provided was perfect! We would do it again!

The man that owned the bikes was so nice. He gave us a cooler bag with 2 bottles of water and 2 cookies that his daughter made. Then when we came back he showed us bracelets that his son makes and let us each choose one. That is above and beyond what he needed to do. The bikes were clean and well maintained. He gave us detailed instructions on how to use the bike and detailed map of where the trails were. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Sean supplied mountain e-bikes for my partner and I. He gave us detailed maps of the Kissimmee and St. Cloud waterfronts and advice on the connecting route. He gave us a bag with water, an ice pack, and homemade cookies. The Kissimmee park was beautiful and we saw lots of birds and other critters on our bike hike. In summary, the area, the bikes, Sean’s care/advice and cookies were all excellent and we had a wonderful two hours.
