Bad Tour Guide Experience. Do Not recommend. Trip description: 1. Expedia description implied we were taking a train there and not a cramped bus. This was misleading. 2. Spent 10 hours on bus and rail and 2 hours in St. Moritz. Not what was implied. Tour Guide Maria: 1. Maria could have taken time to dress better than sweats and a sweatshirt. Maybe a pair of jeans? 2. Would have been great to have Maria give a high level overview of what to expect on the tour. When stopped some of us wondered why. We figured out, with no help from Maria, that the road narrowed to one lane. 3. Maria was more occupied with talking with the driver than sharing information about areas we were passing through or engaging with the passengers. 4. When Maria spoke she sounded like this was her first time as she was struggling for English words. Our guide was supposed to be fluent in English. 5. She did not give much historical or cultural info about places we were passing nor did she engage with the passengers. When she did speak it was like from a script, very monotone and forgetful. But when chatting with the driver she spoke with glee in her voice and had inflection and was natural, not forced. 6. Neither Maria nor the driver were interested in the passengers. 7. A fellow passenger was having trouble getting his arm rest in position. My husband helped him and when Maria saw she helped but not before. 8. When leaving from St Moritz Maria said to meet at 1:30 at this sign Platform 7. I was there but no one else was and decided to go up the ramp. Maria was there with others boarding the train. What the heck!!! If I would have stayed where we were to meet I would be left. 9. When arriving at train station Maria took off with the group leaving me and my husband behind to figure out where to go. Thankfully after she realized we were missing she came to find us. Then she pressured me to go up stairs instead of ramp (I have knee issues) and said ok she will wait for me to get up the ramp before leaving. What?? I hope so. 10. After telling all passengers a dozen times to keep windows on rail up at all times, except to take pictures so others passengers won’t get cold Maria stood in front of four windows that were down almost half the trip. I had to ask to put them up and then she only put one up. Guess she didn’t really care. 11. On the way back to Milan Maria’s only announcement was Enjoy your trip then she proceeded to engage the driver only. Not how was your experience, etc. 12. Maria’s Bad directions. The one thing I wanted to do is get some chocolate in Switzerland but didn’t have time. Couldn’t find the shop with Maria’s directions which were vague. others had similar comments. Other Cons: Air: coach was stuffy and the air barely worked dispensing only a bare minimum of air. Lights: didn’t work until very end of drive when driver turned them on. USB: plugged my phone in and USB wasn’t charging. Asked Maria she said they worked and checked with the driver. He did something and then they worked. Glad I asked. Wi-Fi: again a passenger had to ask if it was available to which the response was no, no wi-fi on the bus. Meeting instruction were not as clear as could have been as several of us were standing around guessing where to meet. Maybe Maria can let passengers know stuff instead of us having to ask.

Only the scenery . Be warned the train is NOT the Bernina Express as advertised. The guide Marie hardly spoke to the tour group . Instead she chatted with the driver for the entire time. No toilet break after a 2.5 hr journey on the train, another 3 has before returning to Milan. The scenery was beautiful, but the remainder very disappointed.

Overall the trip was quite good. The mountain views were spectacular. The bus ride up the mountain was an adventure in itself with lots of switchbacks. The weather was quite cold near 0 C. Make sure to check temperatures before trip and dress accordingly! This was our first time traveling to St Moritz. It is a cozy little town, but most shops were closed due to low season. We had 2 hours to explore and catch a bite to eat and with closures that was plenty of time. The train ride back to Italy was amazing as it allowed us to see many views of the Alps. There were several train stops along the way. It was a long day, but worth the journey.

I think advertising is misleading to consumers. It says "Bernina express" but it's actually just an ordinary train. Having taken this train a few years ago, I wanted to try it again, but was disappointed! So I know very well that this is not the real Bernina Express. It just takes the same route. And it's technically a bus tour. The train only runs one way. The round trip time by bus is about 5 hours. The train only takes around two hours. Conclusion: Not worth the money.

The scenery was outstanding, we went by bus to St. Moritz and from there by train to Tirano and then by bus to Milano Central Station. Bus very comfortable also the train, they need to pay attention on the stops, for the one done for the breakfast, the lack of infrastructure on the “bar” was an issue, to many people and one person to get your payment in advance, a nonsense. The stop at St. Moritz, other the scenery was also bad, 90% of all businesses close, no shopping, almost no restaurants. Yes out of season, but some little anticipation and organization can fix this. The guide was so so, probably wasn’t not in a good day.

Beautiful views from the train. Our guide was informative. Our only negative was we wish we had known how cold it was in St. Moritz. It was 22 degrees and snowing. Summer begins in June. If we had known this we could have packed a few heavy clothes

An amazing All day excursion! Guide was sweet, driver knew how to drive a bus very well and smoothly! Enjoyed the train straight to Swiss territory

Another instance of unclear starting information. The starting point was clearly identified, but the bus (one among several) had nothing pertaining to Viator visible, and only an observant guide noticed me looking around and asked me where I was touring. Otherwise excellent tour…..driver, guide, timing, scenery, etc.

A must see place with Amaizing Scenery. The guide has a wealth of Knowledge and he even told us stories not related to the tour. Make sure that you board the right bus at the place of the meeting. Warm clothing is a must. Things are very expensive at the other side of the boarder.

Salvatore was great guide, and Claudio a great driver. A fantastic way to spend a whole day. Not just about the Bernina train journey which was visual treat and unique (not often you ride a train at 2300m) but the vistas from the coach parts throughout the journey were also visually stunning with lunch in St Moritz . Can honestly say one of the best tours I have ever experienced. Very highly recommended !
