Unfortunately, we didn’t get to find out if it was worth the $$. The tour was advertised to meet at 3pm ‘ on the road to Montecatini Alto”. I asked the owner for suggestions to get to the meeting place and was told to take a cab. We went on a morning trip on the funicular to MA. The plan was to take a cab from the base of the funicular to the farm meeting place. Google maps said it was about a 10 min drive. Around 1, the owner text asking if it would be ok if they started at 3:30, instead of 3. I said yes, thinking that would give us more time. I told them we were catching a cab, hopefully we would be there. but there was a chance we couldn’t get a cab. They text back “ok, we’re starting at 3”. I text “then why did you ask me if you could start at 330?” They text back that the tour was starting at 3. WTH.? Since we had changed our schedule to be there at 330 we now couldn’t make it by 3. we had to skip the tour, lose our money and go back to our hotel. While on our way to the hotel, they called my phone to say they were waiting on us. I told them it was too late to get there and I then text them saying “please, not change times on future guests because it is too confusing” so, not only did we just wasted $78, we missed a tour we very much wanted to do. I’d say just be aware that they are not a convenient venue unless you’ve rented a car and be ware that they could change times on you.

We had a wonderful morning here. We learned about the family history of how the olive farm originated. The pride they have shines though on the way sustainable farming methods are used and the way they respect the land and ensure there is zero wastage. We were shown how to properly taste olive oil and to understand the differences of their olive oil. We also had tea made from olive leaves which was extremely nice. There is no hard sell and they are confident enough to let the product speak for itself so we were happy to purchase a selection of their oils and also some leaves for making olive tea. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and felt that we came away much better informed on a product that we love to use. Would definitely recommend the tour.

Our guide did a really wonderful job educating us about the history of the olive farm and the processing of olive oil. They are so knowledgeable. passionate, and proud of their craft. Family owned business passed on through generations. Really outstanding quality of olive oil and they will ship worldwide.

Highly recommend this tour! The farm tour was absolutely amazing seeing and learning about how they harvest and grow their farm, and we got to taste 3 olive oils that each had their own flavor. Since you only taste the 3, I would recommend coming with a full belly. :-). The authenticity of this tour was spectacular and you could truly see how much care this multi generational family puts into this. We bought some olive oil there and we can’t wait to use it at home!

Gian Luca was a wonderful guide. We learned so much about organic farming. He is an asset to the tour. Olive oil was terrific. I highly recommend this tour.

Our party of four booked this tour directly with Antico Podere Cavozzoli using their website and email. Giacomo answered all our questions regarding how best to get to the farm. We were staying in Montecatini Terme and took the Funicular up the mountain to Montecatini Alto, then had a lovely walk through town and down the hill toward the church to the farm. We learned so much from the tour and tasting. Two in our group have a farm in Pennsylvania so had special interest in the tools and processes involved in growing olives and making olive oil. Giacomo was so informative and passionate about the history and operation of his farm. And he taught us so much about what good olive oil tastes like, and how he goes about making award-winning olive oil. We are so glad we booked this tour and hightly recommend it. Following the tour we made our way back to the town center for a nice lunch. Such a lovely area.

If you think you know about Olive oil this trip will be very interesting similarly if you are just curious. Guide was very interesting and really helped paint a picture of how low tech organic olive oil production is carried out. Amazing setting too. But just wait until you taste the Reserva oil, absolutely amazing just a shame we couldn’t bring more back!!!

Our experience was great! Our tour guide went above and beyond to show us the passion and the process that goes into making the best olive oil we’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend!
