Mozarthaus Vienna

The Mozarthaus Vienna presentation covers three floors. “I assure you that this is a magnificent place …” wrote Mozart on 4 April 1781 to his father Leopold in Salzburg. With this quotation as a starting point, the exhibition on the third floor deals with Mozart’s personal and social situation in Vienna. The tour of the second floor looks at Mozart’s main musical and composer colleagues in Vienna and his cooperation with the librettist Lorenzo da Ponte in “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Don Giovanni”. Mozart’s Apartment on the first floor is the centerpiece of Mozarthaus Vienna. Mozart and his family lived there from 1784 to 1787, during which time he wrote the world-famous opera “The Marriage of Figaro” and three of the six Haydn Quartets. It is the largest, most elegant and expensive apartment ever occupied by Mozart and the only one that is still intact today.

Went to the one in Salzburg… much better. Please don’t waste your money. There is legitimately nothing to see. No items or furniture or anything cool you are probably wanting to see. It’s all writings on the wall and signs that you could read on google. If you are adamant about going, definitely don’t take kids, it’s boring.

Audio guide was good, you do not need to bring your own headphones which was a plus. Don’t expect a restored house that looks the way it did when Mozart was there, but they are honest about the details that lead them to display it the way they did. We spent 2 hours here lingering through the different rooms listening to the guide.

The visit could be produced to make it so much better and more interesting for the layman. Not recommendable if you're going there to increase your knowledge about Mozart. It's one of those things I wouldn't bother to go to nor recommend. My daughter found it boring and even though I didn't say anything to her, it was exactly how I felt.

Probably the worst museum that I’ve been to in my life. Full of nothingness and conjecture. No furniture or substance. Only a stupid audio guide that spoke of objects that “might have been” in this house. Save your $12 and get a Wiener schnitzel.

We had such a great time here and learned so much about Mozart, as well as historical Vienna. I highly recommend booking a tour with Katja, she was extremely charming and very informative!

Very talented musicians and a great cultural experience if you are ever in Vienna and great to witness their talent and the music of Mozart

Overall a relatively boring experience. Don’t get me wrong, I am both a history buff and a classical music fan but the set up of the museum with the audioguide was not very interactive and undermined an otherwise very interesting man

Sadly the museum is only copies of documents and very few pieces of furniture of that era but not Mozarts actual items. At the entrance, the Viator tickets were not recognized at first so it took several minutes later until we were finally granted access.

Seeing part of the original manuscript to Mozart's Requiem. Guided audio tour was really helpful. Small but packed with good info.

See the residence that helped inspire some of Mozart’s greatest works! A must see in Vienna if you love classical music.
