Lower Belvedere

The Belvedere in Vienna is one of the leading museums worldwide. Its famous art collection includes works ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. The unique, overall complex, with its two palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, and their extensive gardens, is one of the most stunning Baroque architectural ensembles in the world. In the 18th century, the Austrian general Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned the renowned Baroque architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt to build a summer residence. After the death of Prince Eugene, Empress Maria Theresa acquired the entire complex and transformed the Upper Belvedere into an exhibition venue for the imperial collections – making it one of the first public museums in the world. The Lower Belvedere, formerly the residence of Prince Eugene, is nowadays home to illustrious exhibitions. Entry ticket only (no guided tour included). Visitors may proceed to the museums entrance directly and enjoy their visit individually.

Skip the lower Belvedere and go to the upper one. The exhibitions were not interesting and not worth the admission price. One thing that was great was the cafe and the apfel strudel, try it.

Unfortunately, the upper and lower museum both have a number of rooms closed. In the lower museum the closures do not leave much to see. As such I am sorry that we bought the tickets for both. The one really great thing about the upper museum is the cafe. I had the grilled meat entree. Massive portion of beef chicken veal and sausage, with rice, French fries and salad. On a price to value basis, it was the best meal that I have had in a week in Vienna. (Also no coverage charge)

The architecture and where the palace is located has zero flaws. The gallery inside has a known and also unknown pieces. We enjoyed every minute we spent there. It felt surreal to be there

In the Lower Palace was a very rude staff. I didn’t feel comfortable even though I tried to talk with her about a situation. She even said “you don’t understand English or what?” So I decided to leave at the moment. The place is amazing and having this kind of staff makes the experience horrible. Please train your staff in how to give a good service

Upper Belvedere museum was interesting and gardens are really beautiful. However lower belvedere à d klmt exhibition was a total fealure. There was this guy at the entrance asking half of the people to queue (the other half didn t have to, without any reason) Also people had to go to the locker for any kind of bag, wallet, ... whatever the site! As à result, my wife had to queue 30min for her bag , then was asked to queue Alain 30min to the locker bécasse she kept her small handbag (i don t gave à clue hy the guy didn t tell her that this hand bag also had to stay in locker the fiesta time)... during this time another guy shouted at me since my telephone was too dark. We finally decided not to enter and lost our ticket price.

We stumbled into this palace as it was close to our hotel . A lovely autumns walk via the Botanical garden . We had sunshine today it made everything more beautiful.

The upper museum has brilliant Central European artists from Hungary and the Czech Republic. The lower museum had the Klimt exhibit and it was mesmerizing. The Belvedere is a “must see.”

If you really want to see the palace, you want the upper palace. If you want to see an art exhibit of Klimt, and just a few palatial rooms, this lower one may be your ticket. Note that it’s a full 8 minute walk back down hill to this entrance so you need not go to the other site first.

Forgot to book time slot tickets and as we walked to the location couldn't wait around for next available slot. Gardens and palace are impressive. Remember to book in advance

I enjoyed the exhibition and the medieval art! Ticket is reasonable, no long queues for it. I got discouraged by the long queue at the upper Belvedere, hence I only went for the lower. Overall it was worth it though
