Innsbruck Food Tours

(Pass by)

This and MORE you will enjoy: We will start with our farmers in the Innsbruck market hall („Markthalle Innsbruck“). They are the backbone of the Tyrolean cuisine. There are also many local farmers who prepare samples, through which they convey their passion for the local and traditional culinary art. "White or rather crumbly?" - Try a Tyrolean grey cheese („Graukäse“), perhaps in combination with a fiery chutney? On the tour a cheese sommelier will present typical local cheeses.  Then we will dive into the world of bread. Here you will be able to "sniff out" the unique history of baking bread - the kind of insight that usually is not easily accessible for tourists. In a local bread manufacturer in Innsbruck you will get to know and appreciate bread as a form of ancient cultural heritage, lovingly and passionately produced with hundreds of years of traditional knowledge and experience. For lunch you will taste specialities from the different Tyrolean regions, indulge your palate with various delicacies and listen to interesting stories. As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once wrote, ”If you have eaten and drunk, you are born as new; Be stronger, braver, more skilled at your business". And so lunch will be followed by a digestive walk through the city, the caffeinated and award-winning awakener (coffee), and sweet temptations that tell Tyrolean history. Next, a culinary, historical journey will take us centuries into the past, until we finally end up at a cozy "Marend" and taste samples of that specialty, with which Tyrol was usually first associated.

This tour was one of the highlights of our two week vacation in Austria as a family of four. Kurt's knowledge and love of Tyrolean cuisine is second to none. His passion for local food (and food in general!) is apparent and infectious. We ate so much delicious and varied foods and got such a great education at the same time. I cannot recommend his tour enough - definitely a must!

Stop searching! You’ve found the best tour in Innsbruck! My group of 7 did a tour with Kurt today and absolutely loved it… except for the turnip schnapps, but he warned us that we wouldn’t like that :-) We tried cheese, fruit, pastry, chocolate, a full traditional lunch meal, coffee and speck. Thanks Kurt for a wonderful tour and the leftover backs to take home!

My friend and I have come to love and truly appreciate food tours as we travel. We were so excited to find this tour in Innsbruck, the only one we could find on our trip to Switzerland, Austria, and Germany. This tour was one of the best we have ever experienced. First of all, we ended up with a private tour with Kurt. I was worried it wouldn't be as fun without a group, but we had the best time! Kurt is amazing. He is so passionate about his company and the tour. He loves to tell others about his country and the region where he grew up, as well as introduce people to the wonderful food. And, the food.... wow! So good. And tons to eat! He starts off the tour by giving you a bag for leftovers, which we had never gotten on a food tour before. This was great as we ended up with dinner for later that evening. Kurt is very into sustainability and supporting local businesses, which made this tour even better. We were introduced to the owners of the local businesses, learning abut their backgrounds while also appreciating their amazing food. I loved this tour and would recommend to anyone. it was one of the best food tours I have taken! Thanks, Kurt!

The food tour was very varied and nobody was hungry at the end. From cheese in the market hall, herb schnapps and pine schnapps, to a bacon platter with beer and wine, to an old café with traditional hot chocolate. We didn't miss out on anything, were well informed about all the products and producers and were even allowed into the traditional baker's small bakery! Kurt illustrates all his information and knowledge with pictures and movies on an iPad - very exciting and entertaining!

How we enjoyed your tour! We have spent the last few days talking, laughing and discussing about you and your input. The various stops were varied and interesting and of course the food was of the highest standard. Cheese, speck, traditional dishes and you showed everything with a lot of heart and passion. Some of us went back the next day and went shopping or had a bite to eat on site. It was a great tour ! Thank you a lot !

We had the best time. Kurt taught us so much about the culture and food of Tyrol. We felt like we were with our fun uncle! This was our favorite experience in Innsbruck.

We had a wonderful time walking through the streets of Innsbruck, sampling a wide range of food and drink as we went while learning about the town and country as well. Our guide was funny, knowledgeable, and spoke with obvious love and pride. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting here.

Kurt was so fun and super passionate about local cuisine. He did a great job showing us around and giving us lots of fun background. Felt more like a friend than a tour guide. And you get SO MUCH food! Def recommend.

If you are visiting Innsbruck, you MUST go on this food tour! Kurt tells you about the town, it’s people, and mostly about the food. You’ll taste delicious cheeses, meats and experience several authentic dishes from the Tyrolese area PLUS you’ll visit the oldest bakery in Innsbruck! We could not have enjoyed our tour more and highly recommend it! It was recommended by a family member who took it in the winter, we enjoyed every minute in September!
