The gardens are wonderful. We enjoyed the state rooms too and I recommend the palace for a great day out steeped in history

This is an amazing place to visit. It is full of incredible exhibits and covers everything you could want to see. The Tapestries are amazing with a description in German and English so easy to understand. There are numerous paintings by some of the greatest painters. The artefacts range from ivory carvings to jewelled vessels and beyond. There is a lovely cafe in the museum which is very elegant. I do not think you can appreciate this in a single day - you need to spend sometime looking and then go back as there is simply so much to see. The actual building is stunning with painted ceilings and amazing marble columns. It is worth a visit what ever your age.

When we arrived at the KMVIT in Vienna, the museum personnel could not scan the printed tickets we bought through Viator or the downloaded tickets on the Apple Wallet. We had to buy new tickets. The museum personnel refused to accept our Viator tickets and said they did not know the operator and that we bought invalid tickets. We had very little time at our disposal and bought new tickets. Trying to enter and purchase new tickets took about 30 minutes, and we had to leave for Budapest; we missed the train and had to take a private car to Budapest at great expense. We had no problems with any other Viator tickets; it was only this one experience that had a problem.

We purchased the combination tickets that allowed us to visit both the Kunsthistorisches Museum and the Imperial Treasury, since separate tickets to the two museums would cost more. The Imperial Treasury collection is like the Crown Jewels collection in London. You see the riches that the European powers gained from around the world, but you don’t learn much about the wars that expansion brought. In the case of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, though, a lot of the power and wealth was gathered through marriages with other imperial powers.

Never got the information on time. I walked around the place, asked, went to my email. Nothing. What a waste of my time and money!

The museum was fantastic and held such wondrous works of art, many of which we had seen in pictures, such as works by Ruebens, Carvaggio and Monet—seeing them in person was incredible. There was so much more to see. We also had lunch in the dining area and it was lovely. A great way to spend a few hours.

Absolutely superb. As with most visitors I have been lucky enough to visit many museums, but the items on display here put all others to shame. It was fascinating to learn just how closely the royal families of Europe were/are related. The jewels and crowns were seriously impressive, and the coronation robes were just beautiful. King Charles III could have picked up a few tips from them. I could have spent a whole day admiring the ecclesiastical robes in the final rooms - I have never seen such sewing, such attention to detail... just amazing!

There was a lot to see although most was not Austrian but it was interesting none the less. We enjoyed our visit and all the interesting pieces that we saw.
