Pilgrim Magnetic Island

After boarding the bus at Nelly Bay terminal you will meet your friendly local guide who will escort you throughout the day. Our guides are all locals, with a depth of knowledge about life on the island. After a brief introduction you will make your way through Nelly Bay to the western side of the island. On the way you’ll get some background facts on the island and an introduction to the geography and fauna.

Picnic Bay Jetty

Visit Cockle Bay and Picnic Bay. Disover the history of the Heritage Listed Picnic Bay Jetty. Take a walk along its length and admire the views towards the mainland.

Pilgrim Magnetic Island

Leaving the early settlers behind we retrace our steps back to Nelly Bay. Afterwards, the bus will make its way over Arcadia hill where you will be rewarded with stunning views across Cleveland Bay towards the Coral sea

Geoffrey Bay

No visit to the Maggie would be complete without a stop at Geoffrey Bay to see if you can find some of our extremely cute Allied Rock Wallabies. These wallabies are found only in Northern Queensland between Townsville and the Burdekin River. Geoffrey Bay is also an opportunity to get out of the bus and get up close and personal with our incredible rock formations.

Horseshoe Bay Beach

Climbing the long steep hill towards Horseshoe Bay you will get some breathtaking views across the island. You will then head down the other side into the old farming precinct before we stop for some free time in Horseshoe Bay where a variety of food is available. During the winter when the butterflies are around we will definitely visit the Butterfly forest for a short bush walk. Its an experience not to be missed and great balm for the soul. Horseshoe Bay also offers year round swimming with a safe swimming enclosure in place during the summer months. An excellent place to cool off if you bring your swimmers. You can choose to leave the tour here and stay for dinner in one of the local cafe's or restaurants. Alternatively you can return with the bus to Nelly Bay Ferry terminal or your accommodation.

Very informative, interesting and fun. Neil was great to chat with and knew everything about the island, we learned so much more than we would have by just touring around ourselves. The wallabies and seeing some local hawk species were a great highlight. The bus was clean and well maintained. Overall a great way to see the island and learn some history and fun stories of the area. Also discovered some hidden gems to come back and explore later during different times of the year. Highly recommend.

Interesting info. Opportunities to hop off the bus and explore a little. Recommend to do this tour early in your stay. Tour guide told some stories which attached meaning to the experiences.

What can I say! From the moment we stepped off the ferry we were met warmly by Neill. He was such an informative, attentive guide with incredible local knowledge and then some. Our party was small which we loved and our coach was really comfortable and fully air conditioned. We also loved his ability to answer questions and his amazing sense of humour. The length of the tour suited us perfectly and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the way back on the ferry. Thank you for an unforgettable Magnetic Island experience.

Awesome trip with Tim . A local that had great knowledge and sense of humour . Stunning scenery and loved the laid back style of the island. Will be back to stay one day to experience more .

We had a great day on the island with our tour guide Tim. We were lucky enough to see some wild koalas, which he stopped the tour for so we could get our and take photos. wild wallabies and we were even lucky enough to see a dugong feeding in one of the bays. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

We had the most amazing afternoon with Magnetic Island Tours. Tim our driver was top notch and very knowledgeable - we had so much fun seeing the beautiful sights of magnetic island. My daughter and I had a "private" tour with Neil, as there were no other guests. Neil is very knowledgeable about the history/flora/fauna of the island and very willing to answer all our questions. He changed the itenary of the afternoon a bit, so we were able to see different bays, the butterflies, a koala and we stayed extra long at Geoffreys bay, to see and feed the rock wallabies. Defenitely our favourite spot. It was great to see all the highlights without feeling rushed! Absolutely would recommend a tour with Neil!
