Kingstown Barracks

(Pass by)

Kingstown is located 1km south of the Thomson Bay Main Jetty and was a focal point in Rottnest Islands WWII operations as it housed the Australian Army during wartime operations. Kingstown Barracks accommodation was opened for educational use in 1984/1985 and has become a much loved camp destination for many WA schools.

Rottnest Island Salt Lakes

(Pass by)

When on the island, a must do activity is to explore the many salt lakes that occupy approximately 10 per cent of the area. Notable ones include Lake Baghdad, Lake Vincent, Herschel Lake, Garden Lake, Government House Lake and Serpentine Lake. These lakes are permanent and are always accessible all year around, other notable lakes that may dry up throughout the summer period include Pink Lake, Lake Sirius, Lake Negri and the twin Pearse Lakes. These salt lake are known to turn pink as a result of the interaction between the algae and salt that grows in the water. When the right mixture of salt and sunlight interact with the algae a red pigment known as beta carotene is accumulated resulting in the pink tinge to the water.

Henrietta Rocks

(Pass by)

Henrietta Rocks is an iconic landmark of Rottnest Island and is commonly used as a lookout for a picturesque view of the island. From here visitors can see Dyer Island, the wreck of the Shark and Parker Point. The most notable of these sights is the wreck of the Shark located only a few metres of the shore.

Omg I want my money back. The bus was so uncomfortable. We weren't allowed to leave the bus except the last stop and taking photos was impossible because of the reflection of the window.... I don't recommend this bus tour at all. Very disappointed.

Maybe the 14 Japanese tourist that took over part of the bus, or maybe the stickers / decalls that covered the window where I was moved to because of the 14 Japanese tourists? I had to stand all the way to be able to see anything. The tour guide was great, lots of interesting talks and good knowledge. The itinerary mentioned 2 stops, we only did one. Would have been nice to see the seals though.

Thank you for a wonderful experience & and Bill, our driver delivered a very informative & amusing commentary while expertly manoeuvring the coach around the island. This was an anniversary treat for us & we hope to visit again to experience this magical island.

Good value, a good amount of knowledge shared. We were not able to cycle around the whole island, so this was a great alternative,

Recommend this 90 minute bus tour (if you aren’t a cyclist like me). The driver / guide was informative and took us to some amazing spots on the Island.

The bus tour was great as it took us to all the main places on the island. Our bus driver was amazing and had so much knowledge, it was very informative. Well worth the money.

Where to start with what was wrong? Firstly the buses were irregular. The timetable says every 20 minutes, but we were left at one stop for over an hour. Overcrowding - is there no limit to how many people you can cram into a moving vehicle. Maintenance - the bell that is used to tell the driver to stop the bus was out of order, so passengers had to yell!!! Cost - $20 for the privilege of being sandwiched up against strangers.

A rubbish tour! Did not honor their itinerary as to what they publish as to what you will see and the time you have to do it in. Stop times where virtually halved. See Kingstown Barracks. Nope just drove past Admission Ticket Free Didn't need one as we didn't go in! Cape Vlamingh 20 minutes • Admission Ticket Free Open to public no ticket needed. 10 min stop only! Cathedral Rocks 30 minutes • Admission Ticket Free Open to Public no ticket needed. 15 min stop at best. Didn't even point out New Zealand Fur Seal Colony at stop until we were past it and then only mentioned it! Rottnest Island Salt Lakes no stop to even take pictures. Henrietta Rocks no stop again to even take Pics. Wadjemup Lighthouse 25 minutes • Admission Ticket Free We stopped 10 mins and didn't even get to go to lighthouse could only View and take pictures. "Don't Waste your money folks not worth it and to top it off we saw one quokka as we drove past it!!!" Only the driver on board not his fault trying to do commentary and drive at the same time not an easy task!

This tour was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend doing this tour as soon as you get to the island so you can get an idea of the layout and what is actually on the island! It is such a large island with sooo many separate sight seeing areas and beaches that I feel you need this tour to really know what’s on offer on Rottnest! Our bus driver/guide was so informative and funny! We had a family member on crutches so bus yours was all we were able to do as hiring bikes wasn’t an option and I’m so happy we did the tour! We plan on going back (definitely this year sometime most likely summer) and try and stay on the island a few nights and hire bikes and do a full day of our own sight seeing/swimming/snorkeling etc! The Quokka’s were out and about and we were able to get some close up pictures and experiences with them! I can’t recommend this enough! Go and experience this amazing island and the tours!

I enjoyed the snorkelling. I was expecting a more commentary or conversation from Botanist & Info of Isl. as advertised.
