Although I had been to Fremantle before I had not manged to get to Rottnest. I am so glad we did. It was easy to run up on the day and book the ferry which runs regularly. We opted for an Island tour which was well worth it we then had enough time to get lunch before returning back om the ferry.

Jason was an excellent tour guide- full of information and the right amount of humour. He was great and made the tour a wonderful experience. Garry at Oliver Hill was also excellent. He made the tour interesting and had lots of anecdotes.

The tour gave us a good overview of the island. We started at the train station and headed up to Oliver Hill. The tour guide gave us a lot of information about the guns and tunnels. Much was basic but nice. The bus tour was interesting and the bus driver was very knowledgeable. However, the stops we made once on the bus were brief and we were rushed back to the bus so we didn’t get to enjoy or appreciate any of them.

The tour was informative however we were disappointed that the train didn’t run and we were not compensated in any way. Lunch was a wrap which was disappointing. Despite this we enjoyed our day.

It was a great day but unfortunately there was no train ride which was disappointing. Maybe they should take the train ride out of the itinerary as is misleading. Kevin was our tour guide/bus driver and he was great. So knowledgeable and told us many stories about the island as well stories from his childhood visiting the island. We were lucky to have him as our guide. It would have been good to have a few more stops to take better photos other than only from inside the bus. The Oliver Hill battery was so interesting but would have been difficult to do if you have limited mobility. Definitely got our steps up!! Lunch was proved which was a chicken and salad wrap with a cookie. Very fresh and they catered to people with dietary requirements. I would recommend this tour because we got to see the entire island which was beautiful. It was a great way to spend our 40th wedding anniversary. Kevin had the people on the bust give us a huge congratulations which was lovely. Awesome day!!
