This morning Jamie and Base from Salt & Bush Tours took us on a kayaking tour of the Boundary and Channel Islands in the Peel Inlet. What a fantastic morning it was. We were treated to a vast array of birds including many migratory species. We were very impressed with their knowledge and ability to recognise and name all the bird species seen. What was really evident was their passion for the environment and the work that they do. Their enthusiasm was catching. Jamie and Baes are friendly and accommodating and it is obvious their work is more than just a business. They regularly volunteer their time to a variety of environmental causes. We highly recommend these tours and for anyone who wants to experience the ecological richness of the Peel region.

Fabulous Pedal kayak tour on the Estuary at Mandurah. Sea Eagles, Ospreys in flight collecting nesting material and then returning to the nest and their chicks. Red capped plovers, red necked stints, grey plover, herons, egrets, spoonbills. Swans and their chicks and many more bird species seen. Pedalling makes this kayak tour accessible for just about everyone. Jamie and Base share their passion and knowledge of this stunning area generously and with insider knowledge. Gliding along smoothly on the estuary’s calm peaceful waters was very, very relaxing; interspersed with the excitement of a new bird sighting. We loved the pedal kayaks so much we’re now buying one so we can do this all the time! Wonderful experience not to be missed.

My wife and I did a guided Kayak Tour down the Serpentine River. It was really well organised with great start and finish points and a nice lPicnic stop along the way. Base and Jaimee were great hosts and we both really enjoyed ourselves. We could have done this with our own Kayaks but we got so much more out of it with the guided tour. Base is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the flora, fauna, and history of the area and we learnt a lot. We even saw a Sea Eagle which was a real treat. Would definitely recommend this tour.

We did the thrombolites and night bush walk, followed by kayaking on the Serpentine river the next morning. Base and Jamie’s passion for the environment and knowledge of the subject is inspiring, and was delivered in easy to understand language. Thanks for showing us a part of our backyard we didn’t know much about, we had a great time and will come back to see a different season. Oh, and kayaking with pedals is much easier than paddles! Had an amazing day out with these guys recently. Kayaking across the Peel Harvey Inlet to the mouth of the Harvey River, watching untold birdlife. Then a walk through Island Point Reserve, with more birds, fungi, orchids and other flowers. And Base and Jamie are the best tour guides - full of information and anecdotes!

Truly interesting kayak tour of the river. Beautiful river- and riverbank-scapes, fascinating bird life - night herons, egrets, ospreys, welcome swallows. Kites and more. Jamie and Sebastian are expert guides with a wealth of experience in conservation and geosciences. They are also perfect hosts with considerable backgrounds in tour leading and guiding all over the world. Kayaking gear was first class. The 3 hours passed quickly and very enjoyably. Thanks guys!
