Sofia History Museum

The Central Mineral Baths is a landmark in the city center of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, a city known for the mineral springs in the area. It was built in the early 20th century near the former Turkish bath and was used as the city's public baths until 1986.

The Presidency Building

The Presidency was built in the mid 1950s as part of the ‘Largo’ complex according to designs by architect Tsolov. Today the Bulgarian president has his official chambers here facing the archaeological museum and his rather smart guard of honour has been photographed by many a tourist.

Ivan Vazov National Theater

The Ivan Vazov National Theatre is Bulgaria's national theatre, as well as the oldest and most authoritative theatre in the country and one of the important landmarks of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.

National Palace of Culture (NDK)

The National Palace of Culture, located in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, is the largest, multifunctional conference and exhibition centre in south-eastern Europe. It was opened in 1981 in celebration of Bulgaria's 1300th anniversary.

Lovers Bridge

The pedestrian bridge in the city center next to National palace of Culture has actually no name, but has always been known as The Bridge of the Lovers. That is because it was commonly used place for meetings of young people in love.

South Park

South Park is a lusciously green patch of land among some of the most modern neighborhoods in the capital city of Bulgaria. South Park covers an area of 1,48 km².

Borisova Gradina

Borisova Gardina is the oldest and most famous park in Sofia. Established in 1884, the park was named after Bulgarian Tsar Boris III.

Vasil Levski National Stadium

Vasil Levski National Stadium, named after Bulgarian national hero and revolutionary Vasil Levski, is the country's second largest stadium. The stadium has 44,000 seats and is located in the centre of Sofia, on the territory of the city's oldest and most famous park - the Borisova gradina.

Knyazheska Garden

The Knyazheska Garden was founded in 1882 by Prince Batenberg’s decision. Then it served the needs of the palace. It is planted with fruit trees, vegetables and flowers.

St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral

The cathedral’s construction began in 1882, but was not completed until 1912, and sanctified until 1924. Named for Russian prince Saint Alexander Nevsky (1221– 1263), the church was built to honor those who sacrificed their lives during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, which liberated Bulgaria from the Ottoman Empire.

Saint Nikolas Russian Church (Tsurkva Sveta Nikolai)

The church was built on the site of the Saray Mosque, which was destroyed in 1882, after the liberation of Bulgaria by Russia from the Ottoman Empire. It was built as the official church of the Russian Embassy, which was located next door, and of the Russian community in Sofia, and was named, as was the tradition for diplomatic churches, for the patron saint of the Emperor who ruled Russia at the time, Nicholas II of Russia.

National Art Gallery

The National Art Gallery houses over 50,000 pieces of Bulgarian art. It is located on Battenberg Square in the capital city of Sofia, occupying most of the historic and imposing edifice of the former royal palace of Bulgaria.

Monument to the Deity All-Holy Sofia
