Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak

Discovered in 1944, this tomb dates from the Hellenistic period, around the end of the 4th century BC. It is located near Seutopolis, the capital city of the Thracian king Seutes III, and is part of a large Thracian necropolis. The tholos has a narrow corridor and a round burial chamber, both decorated with murals representing Thracian burial rituals and culture. We booked a Rose festival for Sunday and they drove us around 3h and there was no festival in the city. There was not a single thing related to Rose festival in the city and they left us there anyway for hours. A scam to sell a tour for a festival that was not happening…

The event only takes place once a year on the 1st Sunday of June! This year, I was here! Full with love, fun and joy!

We were told that our pick-up time was 0600. We were on the street at 0550. While we waited on the street, we were being harassed by a group of drunks and a possible pickpocket. We tried to move away from them, and they then blocked our entrance back into our apartment. At about 0615 we received a call from our provider to say that we were not picked up because we were not on the street at 0600. We were there at 0550. After three more calls to our provider, we were picked up at 0640. We would have appreciated the truth that our pick-up was late so we could have remained safely in our apartment. He had not picked up anyone before us. We arrived late for the ceremony in the rose field. Then at the event in Karlovo, we were provided no seats as promised. We stood watching the events from the rear. We visited a Rose House with a representation of rose production only after we asked why this also was not part of the tour as promised. There was not a lunch stop. We did make our own time for a bite. On a positive note, the dancing in Karlovo was wonderful, and our driver was friendly and polite. The Rose House was interesting and fun and should have already been a part of the tour.
