Today was all about diving deeper into Leipzig’s soul, a journey through music, history, and a touch of nostalgia. Leipzig, as I'm discovering, is a city that wears its heart on its sleeve, each corner whispering tales of bygone eras and artistic brilliance. With my friends in tow, I was eager to soak it all in, to truly understand what makes this city tick.

Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Johann S. Restaurant & Weinbar. The reviews I'd read online were spot on; the place had a cozy ambiance, and the staff were incredibly welcoming. I went for a classic German breakfast, complete with Brotchen, wurst, and of course, a strong coffee to kickstart the day. It was the perfect fuel for a day of exploration. The restaurant's location near St. Thomas Church made it ideal for soaking in the atmosphere before the day's adventures began.

The museum uses a contemporary approach, and it reminded me a lot of the House of European History in Brussels. It was a stark reminder of the challenges and hardships faced by East Germans during that time, but also a testament to their resilience and determination.

It reminded me of my own collection of Arsenal memorabilia back home, each item carrying its own story and memories.

Before dinner, we took a detour to DarXity - Gothic Shop - Leipzig. While I'm not particularly into gothic fashion myself, my friends were keen to check it out, and I must admit, the shop had a certain allure. The displays were elaborate, and the clothing was certainly unique. I even found myself admiring some of the intricately designed accessories. It was a fun and unexpected addition to our day.

For dinner, we chose HANS IM GLÜCK - LEIPZIG Augustusplatz, a burger joint known for its creative menu and lively atmosphere. After a day of historical immersion, a good burger was exactly what we needed. The restaurant was buzzing with energy, and the burgers were delicious. I opted for the classic cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, a perfect way to refuel after a long day of walking and exploring.

As we walked back to the Capri by Fraser Leipzig, I couldn't help but reflect on the day's experiences. From the musical genius of Mendelssohn to the poignant history of East Germany, Leipzig had offered a rich and multifaceted glimpse into its soul.
