Today was a delightful mix of historical exploration and serene relaxation, perfectly capturing the essence of Goa. As I reflect on the day, it's amazing how much we managed to pack in, from exploring ancient forts to lounging on beautiful beaches and savoring the local cuisine. The family is having a blast, and I'm enjoying sharing these experiences with them.

Our day started with a hearty breakfast at Gunpowder in Assagao. Priya had heard great things about this place, and it certainly lived up to the hype. The South Indian cuisine was a refreshing change from the usual Goan fare, and the ambiance was just perfect. We sat in the courtyard, surrounded by lush greenery, enjoying the peaceful start to our day. Devon, of course, devoured his dosa in record time, while Priya and I savored every bite of our appams with spicy stew. It was a great way to fuel up for the day's adventures.

After breakfast, we headed to Dona Paula Beach. The drive itself was scenic, with glimpses of the Arabian Sea peeking through the palm trees. Dona Paula is known for its legend of a viceroy's daughter who jumped off the cliff, but today, it was all about enjoying the sunshine and the gentle sea breeze. Devon was thrilled to be at the beach, and he immediately started building sandcastles. Priya and I took a leisurely stroll along the shore, enjoying the views of Mormugao Harbour. The beach wasn't too crowded, which made it even more enjoyable. I managed to snap some great photos, capturing the vibrant colors of the fishing boats and the clear blue water.

Next on our itinerary was the Reis Magos Fort. This fort, perched on the Mandovi River, has a rich history, dating back to 1551 when it was built by the Portuguese. It has served as a military outpost, a prison, and now a cultural center. As we walked through the fort, I couldn't help but imagine the soldiers who once stood guard here, defending Goa from invaders. The architecture is impressive, with its red laterite walls and cylindrical turrets. The views from the top were breathtaking, offering panoramic vistas of the river and the surrounding landscape. Devon was fascinated by the cannons and the old prison cells, and he peppered me with questions about the fort's history. It was a great opportunity to teach him about Goa's colonial past.

After soaking in the history at Reis Magos, we decided to indulge in some retail therapy at Rangeela Goa. Priya had read about this shop, known for its unique collection of clothing, jewelry, and homeware sourced from across India and Indonesia. The shop was tucked away in a traditional Goan house, with a charming courtyard and a relaxed vibe. Priya spent ages browsing through the clothes, while I admired the intricate handicrafts and Devon amused himself with the colorful trinkets. We ended up buying a few souvenirs, including a beautiful hand-painted vase and a couple of breezy kaftans for Priya.

For lunch, we decided to try The Fisherman's Wharf Panjim. This restaurant is known for its seafood and Goan cuisine, and it came highly recommended. The ambiance was lively, with live music and a bustling crowd. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the prawn curry, fish thali, and butter chicken bao. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the Goan spices added a unique flavor to the dishes. Devon particularly enjoyed the butter chicken bao, a fusion dish that combined Indian and Chinese flavors. It was a satisfying meal, and we left feeling content and energized.

As the sun began to set, we made our way to Thalassa for dinner. This Greek taverna is famous for its stunning sunset views and its Mediterranean cuisine. We arrived just in time to witness the sky ablaze with color as the sun dipped below the horizon. The atmosphere was magical, with soft music and the gentle sound of the waves. We ordered a selection of Greek dishes, including the moussaka, souvlaki, and Greek salad. The food was delicious, and the setting was simply unforgettable. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day.

Today was also significant because it was the day of Shigmo, Goa's traditional spring carnival. While we didn't make it to the main parades in Panjim or Margao, we could feel the festive spirit in the air. The streets were filled with people celebrating, and there was a sense of joy and excitement everywhere we went. It added an extra layer of vibrancy to our experience.

Tomorrow, we're planning to explore the beaches of South Goa, including Colva Beach and Benaulim Beach. We're also looking forward to trying some more local cuisine, with breakfast at Suzie's and lunch at Spicy Bella Restaurant. And in the evening, we'll be checking out Soro - The village pub for a taste of Goa's nightlife. It’s hard to believe we are already on Day 3 of our trip. Time flies when you are having fun. I am so happy to be able to share this experience with my family. Goa is truly a special place, and I can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow brings.

I did miss a few essentials on this trip – a first-aid kit and snorkeling gear. I will need to remember to pack those next time. All in all, today was a fantastic day filled with exploration, relaxation, and delicious food. Goa continues to impress with its blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. I am looking forward to sharing more of our adventures with you all!
