Adventures High and Low
Today felt like a true exploration of contrasts, from the heights of ancient history to the vibrant energy of modern shopping. It was a day of stunning views, challenging climbs, and a bit of well-deserved retail therapy. The Serra de Tramuntana continues to surprise and delight, offering something new around every bend.
Our day began with a hearty breakfast at Doble A Beach Club. The kids were thrilled with the Italian options, and Klaus and I enjoyed the beachfront view. It's always a treat to start the day with the sound of the waves and a good cup of coffee, a simple pleasure that sets the tone for adventure. Aisha, of course, was already planning her next pizza order, and Malik was eyeing the gelato for a post-breakfast treat. The staff were incredibly friendly, making us feel right at home. After breakfast, we were ready to embrace the day's itinerary, eager to see what awaited us in the mountains and beyond.
Our first stop was the Mirador des des Sinies. The drive itself was breathtaking, winding through the mountains with glimpses of the Mediterranean sparkling in the distance. When we arrived, the panoramic views were simply stunning. You could see for miles, with the coastline stretching out before us and the mountains rising majestically behind. It was a perfect spot to take some family photos and soak in the natural beauty of Mallorca. I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and awe as I gazed out at the landscape, a reminder of the simple joys in life. The kids, surprisingly, were just as captivated, pointing out boats on the water and trying to spot familiar landmarks. It’s moments like these that make our family trips so special, creating memories that we'll cherish for years to come.

From the Mirador, we set our sights on Castell d'Alaró. The drive to the base of the mountain was scenic, passing through charming villages and lush countryside. As we started our ascent, the path became steeper, and I realised that my hiking boots were definitely earning their keep. Klaus, ever the supportive husband, kept encouraging me, while the kids bounded ahead with seemingly endless energy. The history of Castell d'Alaró is fascinating, dating back to the Moorish occupation. It served as a strategic fortress for centuries, and you could feel the weight of history as you walked through the ancient stone walls.
The climb was challenging, but the reward was well worth it – a breathtaking view and a tangible connection to Mallorca's rich past.
Reaching the top was an accomplishment. The panoramic views were even more spectacular than at the Mirador, stretching across the entire island. We explored the ruins of the castle, imagining what life must have been like for the soldiers who once stood guard here. The kids were particularly fascinated by the chapel, with its beautiful religious artworks and peaceful atmosphere. We even stumbled upon a small restaurant, Es Verger, where we enjoyed a well-deserved lunch of traditional Mallorcan cuisine. The lamb was particularly delicious, and the rustic setting added to the charm. As we sat there, savoring our meal and soaking in the view, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to experience such a unique and special place.
After our historical and scenic adventures, it was time for something completely different: shopping at FAN Mallorca Shopping. Aisha had been looking forward to this all day, and even Malik was excited about the prospect of finding a new video game. The mall was huge, with a wide variety of stores ranging from international brands to local boutiques. We spent several hours browsing the shops, with Aisha happily trying on clothes and Malik making a beeline for the electronics section. Klaus, surprisingly, found a new gadget that he couldn't resist, and I treated myself to a new scarf from a local artisan. The open-air design of the mall was refreshing, and we enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the mix of people from all over the world. It was a fun and lighthearted way to end the day, and we left with bags full of treasures and happy memories.

Before heading back to our accommodation, we had dinner at Restaurant Molí des Capdellà. This charming restaurant in Es Capdellà is known for its traditional Mallorcan cuisine. We started with some delicious tapas, followed by a hearty paella that was cooked to perfection. The kids devoured the ice cream for dessert, while Klaus and I savored a glass of local wine. The service was excellent, and the staff made us feel like part of the family. It was a perfect way to wind down after a busy day, enjoying good food and good company in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

As the sun began to set, we drove to Sa Pedrissa for dinner. This restaurant is renowned for its stunning views and romantic ambiance. The setting was truly magical, with the sun casting a golden glow over the mountains and the sea. We enjoyed a delicious meal of Mediterranean cuisine, with fresh seafood and local ingredients. The service was impeccable, and the staff went out of their way to make our evening special. It was the perfect way to end a day of adventure and exploration, savoring the beauty and tranquility of the Serra de Tramuntana.

The kids were exhausted but content as we drove back, already chattering about what tomorrow would bring. Reflecting on the day, I realised how perfectly it encapsulated the essence of our trip: a blend of cultural immersion, outdoor adventure, and quality family time. From the ancient Castell d'Alaró to the modern FAN Mallorca Shopping, we experienced the diverse facets of this beautiful island. Tomorrow, we are planning to explore Sobremunt Sunset, Montano Pacharán, and Mirador de n' Alzamora. I’m also looking forward to trying Restaurant la tramuntana for dinner. Each day brings new discoveries, new experiences, and new memories to cherish. And as I drift off to sleep, I can't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to share these moments with my family, creating a tapestry of adventures that will bind us together for a lifetime.
The Serra de Tramuntana continues to cast its spell, and I can't wait to see what tomorrow holds. Perhaps we'll find more hidden gems, more breathtaking views, and more opportunities to connect with each other and with the soul of this enchanting island. As we prepare for our final days in Mallorca, I'm filled with a mix of excitement and nostalgia, eager to make the most of every moment and already dreaming of our return. It’s been a journey of discovery, not just of a place, but of ourselves, and I know that the memories we've made here will stay with us long after we've left.
Tomorrow marks our last full day in Serra de Tramuntana, and while I’m excited to see what new adventures await, there’s a part of me that wishes we could stay here forever. We plan to start our day with breakfast at Restaurant Agapanto Flor de l'Amor, followed by visits to Sobremunt Sunset and Mirador de n' Alzamora. For lunch, we’ll be trying Maristel Bistro & Bar, and in the evening, we're looking forward to a relaxing dinner at Restaurant la tramuntana. And of course, no trip to Mallorca would be complete without a visit to Kon Tiki Beach Bar for a final taste of the island's vibrant nightlife.
