Today was a day dedicated to embracing the raw, untamed beauty of Durmitor National Park. As a Montenegrin, born in Kolašin, I've always felt a deep connection to this land, and today's journey was a reaffirmation of that bond. It was a day filled with adventure, stunning viewpoints, and of course, delicious Montenegrin food. I was eager to immerse myself in the heart of Durmitor, to feel the pulse of its ancient landscapes, and to share these experiences with all of you.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Ukus Durmitora in Žabljak. The aroma of warm kacamak and freshly baked bread filled the air, instantly transporting me back to my childhood. Fueled and ready, I set off for Durmitor Adventure. I was excited to see what adrenaline-pumping activities awaited me. Although I didn't partake in any of the extreme sports like canyoning or paragliding, the very atmosphere was charged with excitement. I watched as others geared up for their adventures, their faces alight with anticipation. It reminded me of my younger days, when I would eagerly seek out any opportunity to explore the mountains. Even now, the spirit of adventure still burns within me, albeit with a slightly more cautious approach.

Next on the itinerary was the Viewpoint Nedajno overlooking the Sušica Canyon. The drive itself was a treat, with winding roads offering glimpses of the park's stunning scenery. As I approached the viewpoint, the landscape opened up before me, revealing the dramatic cliffs and lush greenery of the Sušica Canyon. I parked the car and walked to the edge, where the vast expanse of the canyon unfolded. The sheer scale of it was breathtaking. The Sušica river, carving its way through the landscape, seemed like a tiny ribbon from my vantage point. I spent a long time there, simply soaking in the view and feeling the wind on my face. It was a moment of pure serenity, a reminder of the power and beauty of nature. After taking dozens of photos, I decided it was time for lunch. I headed back to Žabljak and found myself at Podgora, a restaurant known for its traditional Montenegrin cuisine. The interior, built in a domestic ethno style with wood and stone, was warm and inviting. I ordered a selection of local specialties, including grilled meats and fresh salads. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. It was the perfect way to refuel after a day of exploring.

With the afternoon sun casting long shadows, I decided to do a little shopping before dinner. I stopped by Idea Žabljak to pick up a few essentials and some local treats to bring back to Heidelberg. It's always nice to have a little piece of Montenegro with me, especially when I'm so far away. I grabbed some local cheese and honey to remind me of this trip when I return home to Klaus.

As evening approached, I made my way to Zlatni Bor for dinner. Tucked away in a quiet corner, the restaurant exuded a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The fireplace crackled merrily, and the aroma of traditional Montenegrin dishes filled the air. I settled into a comfortable seat and ordered a hearty meal of lamb stew and potatoes. The food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. It was the perfect way to end a perfect day. Tucked away in the quietest part of the hotel, the national restaurant Zlatni bor is the right place for lovers of good food and quality local products.

Reflecting on the day, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect with my roots. Durmitor National Park is a truly special place, a treasure trove of natural beauty and cultural heritage. It's a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of modern life and immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature. As I prepare for tomorrow's adventure to Biogradska Gora and Piva Monastery, I carry with me the memories of today's journey, the stunning vistas, the thrilling adventures, and the delicious flavors of Montenegrin cuisine. Tomorrow promises another day of exploration and discovery, and I can't wait to share it with you all.

Tomorrow I plan on visiting Biogradska Gora, one of the oldest protected areas in Europe, and the Piva Monastery, a cultural and spiritual landmark. I'm particularly excited about visiting Biogradska Gora, as I've heard it's home to some of the most pristine forests in the Balkans. I'm looking forward to immersing myself in the tranquility of the forest and breathing in the fresh mountain air. Then I plan on ending the day at Caffe Bar Ledena Pecina.
