Today, Maximilian and I embraced the slower pace of life that Hoi An so effortlessly offers. Leaving behind the familiar comforts of our Green Coco Homestay Hoi An, we set out to explore the serene Thu Bồn River and the enchanting Cam Nam Island. It was a day filled with simple pleasures, delicious discoveries, and a deeper connection to the local culture.

Our morning began with a delightful breakfast at Like Quán. I savored a steaming bowl of *cao lầu*, a local noodle specialty, while Maximilian enjoyed a hearty *bún chả*. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service set the perfect tone for our day of exploration. Fueled and ready, we strolled towards the river, eager to begin our journey.

The Thu Bồn River beckoned with its gentle currents and picturesque scenery. We decided to take a leisurely boat trip, allowing us to soak in the sights and sounds of riverside life. As we glided along, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over me. The vibrant green hues of the surrounding countryside, the colorful fishing boats bobbing in the water, and the distant sounds of village life created a symphony of tranquility. Maximilian, ever the attentive partner, pointed out interesting details along the way, sharing historical tidbits and local legends that added depth to our experience.

Our destination was Cam Nam Island, a verdant oasis just a short distance from Hoi An's bustling center. As we disembarked, we were immediately greeted by the island's laid-back charm. The air was fresh and clean, a welcome change from the city's hustle and bustle. We decided to explore the island on foot, wandering along its narrow lanes and soaking in the authentic atmosphere. We passed traditional houses with their characteristic tiled roofs and wooden structures, their courtyards overflowing with fruit trees. We observed locals engaged in their daily routines, tending to their gardens, mending fishing nets, and sharing stories over steaming cups of tea.

It was a humbling experience, one that gave me a newfound appreciation for the skill and dedication of these talented individuals.

Of course, no visit to Cam Nam Island would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights. We stopped at a small, family-run eatery and sampled some of the island's specialties, including *bánh đập* (crispy rice crackers) and *hến xào* (stir-fried baby clams). The flavors were fresh and vibrant, a testament to the quality of the local ingredients. Maximilian, always the adventurous eater, even tried a local delicacy that I politely declined – I'm not quite as brave as he is when it comes to food!

For lunch, we returned to the mainland and dined at Firefly Hoi An | Restaurant & Bar. The ambiance was lively and inviting, and the menu offered a tempting array of Vietnamese and international dishes. I opted for a refreshing salad with local herbs and grilled chicken, while Maximilian savored a plate of fresh seafood. The meal was delicious, and the service was impeccable. It was the perfect spot to recharge before continuing our exploration.

As the afternoon wore on, we decided to seek out a bit of refreshment. We ventured to Wanderlust Hoi An, a bar known for its lively atmosphere and riverfront location. Sipping on refreshing cocktails while enjoying the scenic views, we reflected on the day's adventures. The bar had a great vibe, with live music adding to the ambiance. It was a perfect way to unwind and soak in the energy of Hoi An.

Dinner was a delightful affair at Cơm Linh - Vietnamese Restaurant. We indulged in a variety of local dishes, savoring the authentic flavors and aromas of Vietnamese cuisine. The restaurant was cozy and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It was the perfect ending to a day filled with culinary exploration.

As we walked back to our homestay, hand in hand, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences we had shared. Hoi An had once again cast its spell on us, leaving us with memories to cherish for a lifetime. It's amazing how a day filled with simple activities can leave you feeling so refreshed and connected.

Tomorrow, we are planning to explore Hoi An further by motorbike, taking a day tour to see some of the local handicraft artisans at work. I am particularly excited about the prospect of seeing the countryside and learning more about the traditional crafts that make this region so unique. Plus, Maximilian has promised me a visit to Unique Hoi An Fashion, so perhaps I will find something special to bring back to Berlin. I'm already looking forward to another day of adventure in this captivating corner of Vietnam.

It's amazing to think that we only have a couple of days left here in Hoi An. This trip has been such an incredible experience, and I'm already dreading the thought of leaving. But I know that we'll be back someday, to explore more of this beautiful country and create even more unforgettable memories.
