A Day of Waterfalls and Wonders

Today was all about immersing ourselves in the natural beauty and cultural richness of Gudvangen. After eight days of exploring Norway with my friends, I can say that each day brings a new adventure, a new perspective, and a deeper appreciation for this incredible country. The memories we are creating will last a lifetime, and I'm excited to share every moment with you.

We started our day with a hearty breakfast at the Gudvangen Fjordtell. I opted for the continental breakfast, while Lena went for the buffet. Fuelled up, we set out to explore the waterfalls. Our first stop was Kjerrskredsfossen.

The bus ride from Gudvangen to Aurland was short, about 30 minutes. From there, we followed the signs towards Kjerrskredsfossen. The walk was scenic, with lush vegetation and wildflowers all around. The waterfall itself was breathtaking. It cascaded down the rocky cliffs, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. I took several photos, trying to capture the beauty of the scene. The cool mist in the air was refreshing, and the sound of rushing water was soothing.

Sometimes, the most rewarding experiences are the ones that require a little effort to reach.

After spending some time at Kjerrskredsfossen, we headed back towards Flåm to see the Waterfall with bridge. We took the bus from Aurland to Flåm. The Waterfall with bridge was easy to find, with clear signs pointing the way. There was a small parking fee, but it was worth it to see the waterfall up close. The bridge added a charming touch to the scene, and we spent some time taking photos from different angles.

By lunchtime, we were ready for a break, so we headed to Viking Kroa for lunch. Lena and I shared a table with a view of the fjord. I decided to try the fish, while Lena went for the lamb sausages. The food was delicious, and the service was great. The staff was friendly and helpful, making our dining experience even more enjoyable.

After lunch, we decided to do a bit of shopping. We stopped by the FLÅM SWEATERSHOP. I was hoping to find a nice, warm sweater to take back to Berlin. The shop had a wide selection of sweaters, cardigans, and accessories. I ended up buying a beautiful Norwegian sweater with intricate designs inspired by nature. Lena found a lovely hat and scarf set, perfect for the Berlin winter.

For dinner, we decided to try Gudvangen Hotelldrift AS. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, and the menu featured traditional Norwegian dishes. I opted for the raspeball, a local specialty, while Lena tried the lamb. The food was hearty and satisfying, a perfect end to a day of exploring.

As the day winds down, I find myself reflecting on the incredible experiences we've had today. From the majestic waterfalls to the charming shops, every moment has been filled with wonder and delight. It's amazing how much you can pack into a single day when you're surrounded by such natural beauty and cultural richness.

Looking ahead to tomorrow, our final day, I’m excited to visit The Viking Experience. I'm also looking forward to trying the seafood at Gudvangen seafood restaurant (SJØMATRESTAURANTEN) for dinner. Maybe we’ll even have time to grab a drink at Njardarheimr.

This trip has been a fantastic blend of adventure and relaxation, and I'm so grateful to be sharing it with my friends. As a software developer who loves to travel and explore new cultures, I find that these experiences not only broaden my horizons but also inspire creativity in my work. And as someone who cares deeply about sustainability, I appreciate how Norway embraces eco-friendly practices and preserves its natural beauty.

I am also glad I remembered to pack my hiking boots, even though I forgot my sunglasses. Lena never lets me forget anything important.
