Today marked the beginning of my solo journey in Seville, and I couldn't have asked for a more enchanting introduction to this vibrant city. From the moment I stepped off the plane and into the warm, welcoming air, I knew this trip would be special. The blend of ancient history and modern culture is palpable here, a mix I'm eager to explore and share through my lens.

My day began with a hearty breakfast at Restaurante El Giraldillo Sevilla. Fuelled with traditional Spanish fare, I set off to explore the heart of Seville, camera in hand and excitement bubbling within me. The restaurant was conveniently located, and as its name indicates, offered a beautiful view of the Giralda.

Stepping into Royalty: The Alcázar

The first stop on my Sevillian adventure was the Royal Alcázar of Seville. Walking through its gates felt like stepping back in time. Every corner revealed intricate details, from the delicate stucco work to the vibrant azulejo tiles. I spent hours wandering through the palace, each room telling a story of royal intrigue and artistic brilliance. I was particularly captivated by the Patio de las Doncellas, the Courtyard of the Maidens. Its serene beauty and historical significance made it a highlight of my visit. The weather in Seville is lovely, with daily highs around 60°F, but it's important to protect my skin.

Next on the agenda was the Catedral de Sevilla, a short walk from the Alcázar. This cathedral is not just any church; it's the largest Gothic cathedral in the world. The atmosphere was lively and authentic, with locals and tourists alike enjoying traditional Andalusian dishes. I sampled a variety of tapas, each bursting with flavor, and washed them down with a refreshing glass of local wine. The experience was a true taste of Seville, and I savored every moment.

For dinner, I ventured to Restaurante Ispal | Grupo La Raza, eager to experience a modern take on traditional cuisine. I opted for a tasting menu, which allowed me to sample a range of flavors and textures. Each course was a work of art, beautifully presented and expertly prepared. It was a culinary journey that delighted my senses and left me feeling completely satisfied. I really enjoyed the modern takes on the local cuisine.

As the sun began to set, I made my way to La Terraza del EME - Bar panorámico. Perched atop a stylish hotel, this rooftop bar offered stunning views of the city skyline. I ordered a cocktail and watched as the sky transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors. The Giralda, illuminated against the twilight, was a sight to behold. It was the perfect way to end my first day in Seville, a moment of pure bliss and appreciation for this beautiful city.

Tomorrow's Discoveries

Tomorrow, I plan to explore the Plaza de España and Parque de María Luisa, followed by a visit to Casa de Pilatos. I'm also looking forward to discovering local artisan shops, like Ceramica Santa Cruz. I'm excited to see what other hidden gems Seville has in store for me. I think I'll grab breakfast at La Bartola before heading out for the day.
