As our journey through the Moulay Idriss Region draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the unique charm and spiritual aura of this holy city. Today was about soaking in the last moments, revisiting favorite spots, and capturing the essence of Moulay Idriss one last time before heading back to Berlin. The memories we've made here with Hans will undoubtedly stay with us long after we've left its serene landscapes.

Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Haytam. The aroma of freshly baked bread and mint tea filled the air as we sat down to enjoy our meal. I savored each bite, knowing it might be a while before I tasted such authentic Moroccan flavors again. The Haytam offered a taste of authentic Moroccan cuisine. We enjoyed the tagines and couscous, prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. It was a perfect start to our final day in Moulay Idriss.

After breakfast, we decided to visit Dar Moulay Idriss, a place that had intrigued me since our arrival. Although non-Muslims cannot enter the mausoleum itself, the exterior was stunning, with its green-tiled roof shimmering in the morning sun. The spiritual significance of the site was palpable, and I felt a sense of reverence as I stood there, admiring its beauty. Hans captured some wonderful photographs, trying to encapsulate the essence of this holy place.

Visiting Moulay Idriss is like stepping back in time, where the echoes of history and spirituality resonate in every corner.

Next on our list was DAR INES MOULAY IDRISS ZERHOUN, a traditional guesthouse known for its stunning architecture and panoramic views. We had heard so much about it from other travelers and were eager to see it for ourselves. The Dar Ines is housed in a recently renovated historic building. The blend of traditional Moroccan architecture and modern comforts was seamless. As we walked through its intricately decorated rooms, I felt transported to another era. The staff was incredibly welcoming, offering us mint tea and sharing stories about the Dar's history.

In the afternoon, we ventured to The Anou Cooperative, a shop that supports local artisans. I had read about it before our trip and was keen to see the handicrafts they offered. The Anou Cooperative empowers local artisans, particularly women. The cooperative showcased handwoven rugs, exquisite textiles, and beautifully crafted goods. As we browsed through the items, I was struck by the skill and artistry of the craftspeople. We purchased a small rug as a souvenir, knowing that our money was going directly to support the local community. It was important for me to support the local artisans and bring home a piece of their beautiful work.

For lunch, we stopped at Cafe restaurant ain zwawk مقهى و مطعم عين زواوق, a local eatery known for its traditional Moroccan dishes. The cafe was bustling with locals, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. I ordered a tagine, while Hans opted for grilled meats. The food was simple but delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. It was a perfect spot to soak in the local culture and enjoy a satisfying meal.

As the day drew to a close, we had dinner at Restaurant Moulay Idriss, a charming establishment recommended by our guesthouse owner. The service was attentive, and the staff made us feel right at home. It was a perfect way to end our last day in Moulay Idriss.

I am so glad that Hans and I decided to include Moulay Idriss in our itinerary. It has been a highlight of our trip, and I will cherish the memories we have made here forever.

Tomorrow, we will begin our journey back to Casablanca, where we will catch our flight back to Berlin. While I am looking forward to returning home, I will miss the tranquil beauty of Moulay Idriss. I hope that one day, I will have the opportunity to visit this special place again.
