A Day of Florentine Delights
Today was a symphony of experiences that truly captured the essence of Florence. From breathtaking panoramic views to the solemn beauty of ancient basilicas, and the joyous indulgence of Tuscan wines, it was a day to remember. Each moment felt like a brushstroke on the canvas of my Florentine adventure, adding depth and color to my already vibrant memories.
Our day began with a delightful breakfast at Saporium Firenze. What a way to start the day! The restaurant was amazing. The quality of the food, service and atmosphere was great. It was the perfect start to a day full of exploration and indulgence. Ariel Hagen, the chef, really knows how to make some amazing Tuscan cuisine. It was a Michelin-starred experience. It was such a great way to start the day.
Our first stop was Piazzale Michelangelo. I had heard so much about the panoramic views, but nothing could have prepared me for the sheer beauty that unfolded before my eyes. The entire city of Florence lay beneath us, a tapestry of terracotta rooftops, majestic domes, and the winding Arno River, all framed by the rolling Tuscan hills in the distance. It was the perfect spot for a photo, and I made sure to capture the moment with Hans and the girls. Even Aisha was mesmerized, pointing out the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio with childlike excitement. I couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment, sharing the beauty of Florence with my family.

Florence seen from above is a singular experience. Not just a perfect photo opportunity, but a moment of wonder.
Next on our itinerary was the Basilica di San Lorenzo. Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the sense of peace and history that permeated the air. The basilica, the Medici family's parish church, is a treasure trove of Renaissance art and architecture. Brunelleschi’s design is both elegant and calming, with its geometric floor and serene stone columns. The rough stone exterior really stood out. The unfinished facade became a symbol of the city.

One of the highlights was seeing Donatello's two intricately carved pulpits. The Basilica is one of the largest churches in Florence, and the burial place of the Medici family.
After soaking in the art and history, it was time for lunch, and All’Antico Vinaio was calling our name. I had heard so much about their *schiacciata* sandwiches. The line was long, but definitely worth it. The bread was crispy, and the fillings were fresh and flavorful. I chose *La Summer* with prosciutto Toscano, mozzarella di bufala, tomato, basil, vinegar and olive oil. It was the perfect fuel for our afternoon adventure. It was a truly incredible sandwich. It was one of the best I have ever had! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.
With our appetites satisfied, we embarked on our Tuscan Wine Tours With Angie. This was an experience I had been eagerly anticipating, and it did not disappoint. Angie, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Tuscan wines, and her enthusiasm was infectious. As we drove through the rolling hills of Chianti, she shared stories about the region's history and winemaking traditions. The views were simply breathtaking, with vineyards stretching as far as the eye could see, dotted with charming farmhouses and olive groves.
Embark on a serene journey through Tuscany's vineyards with personal wine tours led by Angie, embracing Italy's rich winemaking traditions.
Our first stop was a small, family-run winery, where we were greeted by the owner, who gave us a tour of the cellars and explained the winemaking process from grape to bottle. The passion and dedication that went into each bottle were evident, and it was truly inspiring to see a family carrying on a centuries-old tradition. Of course, the highlight was the wine tasting itself. We sampled a variety of Chiantis, each with its own unique character and flavor profile. I particularly enjoyed the *Riserva*, with its rich, complex flavors and smooth finish.
The second winery was equally charming, with a focus on organic and sustainable winemaking practices. The owner shared his philosophy of working in harmony with nature to produce the best possible wines, and it was clear that he was deeply committed to his craft. We tasted a crisp, refreshing *Vernaccia* white wine, which was the perfect complement to the stunning views from the terrace.
Between winery visits, Angie took us to a local *trattoria* for a traditional Tuscan lunch. We feasted on *pappa al pomodoro*, a hearty tomato and bread soup, and *ribollita*, a vegetable and bean stew, accompanied by, of course, more Chianti. It was the perfect way to savor the flavors of Tuscany and learn more about the region's culinary heritage.
Our final stop of the day was CERAMICHE D'ARTE PARRINI, Italian Ceramic, Tuscany Pottery. I have always loved ceramics, and it was amazing to see such beautiful pieces. It was founded by Maestro Lauro Parrini in 1979. I got a beautiful table centre-piece. I use it most evening at dinner. I can't wait for the warmer weather, so I can use it as a platter for salads.

As the sun began to set, we made our way back to Florence, feeling relaxed and content. It was a day filled with beauty, culture, and delicious food and wine. It was great to appreciate the beauty of hand-made products through the traditional mould and potter's-wheel methods.
For dinner, we chose Ristorante Pietrabianca. It was a fantastic choice. It's located in the heart of Florence. The restaurant has a wine window. We ordered prosecco. The service was great. The staff were friendly and ready to help. The seafood was amazing. It was a great way to end the day.
Tomorrow is our last day in Florence, and we plan to make the most of it. Our itinerary includes a visit to Piazza del Duomo, the Museo Nazionale del Bargello, and the Fountain of Neptune. I am also looking forward to experiencing the nightlife with my friends at Rasputin.
I am already feeling a tinge of sadness that our Florentine adventure is coming to an end, but I know that the memories we have made here will last a lifetime. Florence has captured my heart, and I am sure I will be back someday to explore its hidden corners and discover new treasures. This trip has reminded me of the importance of embracing new experiences and connecting with different cultures.
