A Day of Discovery and Delight
Today was a day of exploring ancient wonders and savoring the flavors of Peru. From the serene Choquequirao Puquio to the vibrant culinary scene of Cusco, every moment was filled with awe and delight. It’s days like these that remind me why I love sharing these adventures with my family.
The morning started with a sense of excitement as we set out to explore Choquequirao Puquio. The name itself, possibly derived from Quechua words meaning 'metal spring', hints at the treasures hidden within this archaeological site. Situated in the Cusco Region, it’s a place where history whispers through the stones. The air was crisp and cool, a welcome change as we explored the site. I couldn't help but imagine what life must have been like for the Incas who once walked these paths. Elena was particularly fascinated by the idea of a 'metal spring,' and Maximilian, ever the pragmatist, was intrigued by the engineering of the site. We spent a good couple of hours wandering around, taking in the panoramic views and soaking up the atmosphere. It’s amazing how these ancient sites can transport you back in time, offering a glimpse into a world so different from our own.

After our morning adventure, we made our way back to Cusco, ready to indulge in some delicious Peruvian cuisine. For breakfast, we decided to try Chull's - Peruvian Cuisine & Craft Beer. The restaurant was easy to find, thanks to its great location, and we were immediately charmed by its beautiful decor and pleasant atmosphere. The staff was incredibly courteous, making us feel right at home. I opted for the *trucha*, while Maximilian went for the *ají de gallina*, and Elena, of course, had a kid-friendly version of *lomo saltado*. And the craft beer? Absolutely superb ! It was the perfect way to start our day, fueling us for more adventures.

For lunch, we chose Taywa, enticed by its reputation for serving authentic Peruvian dishes. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the menu offered a wide array of options. I decided to try the *ceviche*, a classic Peruvian dish, while Maximilian went for the *lomo saltado*. Elena enjoyed a simple but delicious chicken dish. The flavors were incredible, a true celebration of Peruvian culinary heritage. It was a delightful meal that left us all feeling satisfied and content.

As evening approached, we found ourselves at KUSYKAY Peruvian Craft Food for dinner. This restaurant is known for its creative and beautifully decorated dishes, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The service was exceptional, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. I opted for the vegetable *ceviche*, while Maximilian chose the *ají de gallina*, and Elena had a delicious vegan burger. Each dish was a work of art, both in terms of presentation and flavor. It was truly a culinary experience to remember. Kusykay is known for blending tradition and creativity in each dish, with fresh ingredients and Peruvian culinary techniques. The restaurant has a modern decor and a lovely atmosphere.

To cap off the day, Maximilian and I decided to sneak away for a bit to Black Cat Bar Cusco - Craft Cocktails & Spirits. This cozy and welcoming bar is located near Plaza de Armas del Cusco, offering a warm ambiance and comfortable seating. It was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some expertly crafted cocktails. The bartenders were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere was intimate and relaxing. It’s a great place to escape the noise of other lively bars in the area. I tried a cocktail made with Matacuy spirit, while Maximilian went for a classic Pisco Sour. Sipping our drinks, we reflected on the day’s adventures, feeling grateful for the opportunity to share these experiences with each other.

We'll be having breakfast at Inti House, lunch at Inka Grill, and dinner at Mistura Grill & Restaurant. Maximilian is already excited about visiting TEXTILES POMATAYLLA, a local shop known for its beautiful textiles. I’m particularly looking forward to capturing some amazing photos and sharing them with all of you.
