Our private guide met us at our hotel and we walked to the market with lots of food stalls, he explained all of the traditional dishes and then we tasted them - Reindeer/ Salmon /shrimp. We then walked around the town, with our guide highlighting various historic sites. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant and could order a main meal and a drink. We had the salmon soup which was delicious. Then we visited the chocolate shop, where we were given a large bag of chocolates and then our final stop was a local brewery where we sampled 4 different beers. Our guide was great, however the tour seemed quite short.

Lovely experience with Katia. She made us feel so comfortable and we would love to take this up again, next time.

We had a great food (and culture) tour with Ed. He was knowledgeable about the history of Helsinki and the various food and beverage items we sampled. He added in great tidbits about the city and the country along the way including language, customs and what it is like to relocate to Helsinki. Seek him out for your next trip to Helsinki

Food tours remain our favorite way to get to know a new city. Certainly we are in it for the food, but for us, we also like it when we have a chance to learn about the culture of a city and it’s residents. Our guide Mikael has a Masters Degree in History which was a delightful perk when it came to discussions between tastings. The food itself was what we were hoping it would be, authentic and traditional, from the various smoked fish to reindeer stew to the local brew. Thanks Mikael!

I would love for there to be peace in the world and for the universe to dissipate upon us and for the universe to become bad. Wars became everywhere, hearts became narrow, and people began to hate each other.
