Your Itinerary

La rue Port Neuf

We will start our gourmet tour with a stroll through the pedestrian streets of Bayonne, stopping by and tasting chocolate in one of the oldest chocolate shops in Bayonne (1854). We"ll pass by the cathedral, the cloister etc before immersing ourselves in our gastronomic visit!

Les Halles de Bayonne

Les Halles de Bayonne is the perfect starting point for our food tour, where you'll get to indulge in some of the freshest and most delicious fish/seafood in the region. To complement the mouthwatering flavors of the fish/seafood, we've carefully selected a glass of local wine for you to savor. While you discover these local specialties, you'll be surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells of the bustling market. It's the perfect introduction to Bayonne's food scene, and we can't wait to share it with you.

Le trinquet Saint-Andre

Our second stop on the food tour is one of the oldest trinquets in France (A trinquet is a type of indoor court used for playing the Basque ball game called "pelota."). As we arrive, you'll be struck by the traditional architecture and the rich history of the venue. We'll head to the restaurant inside the trinquet, where you'll get to sample a variety of local tapas and cured meats, each with their own unique flavor profile. To complement the tapas, we'll also serve you a glass of wine from the restaurant's carefully curated selection. As you savor the delicious food and drink, you'll be surrounded by the lively atmosphere of the trinquet, with the sounds of the game being played in the background. It's a truly unique and unforgettable experience that captures the essence of Basque culture and cuisine.

Carreau des Halles

Next, we'll head to one of the best pastry shops in Bayonne to pick up a Basque cake that we'll enjoy at our final stop.

Definitely the highlight of our trip to Bayonne . Karim took us round the city telling us about the local architecture and the Bayonne way of life. As there were only the four of us it was very relaxed. We had chocolates in two shops then had seafood tapas at the market followed by different tapas at a restaurant by the river. Specially selected wines were served at each venue. We also had fun serving our own cider straight from the barrel at the Cider House where we could not resist the warm bread, cheese , quiche paste and walnuts there despite already being quite full. After a visit to the Trinquet to see the Basque ball game we ended our tour with Basque cake and coffee. When we booked we thought it may have been a bit expensive but we definitely got our money’s worth and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Very informative journey. Our guide was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I would have liked to have stopped at a couple more chocolate shops, but I guess everyone would!

A rainy day in Bayone did not stop a wonderful tour of the city. Karim the tour quide did a good job of outlining the city history, picking places to stop for chocolates, lunch, which was excellent, snacks and a drink or two. ( all part of the cost ) I recommend this tour for anyone looking to learn a little about the city and it's culinary heritage.

Our guide Karim was a very pleasant man and he explained things well. The food and drink was top class. We couldn’t eat it all - admittedly we have smaller appetites but more hearty appetites would be satisfied.

We loved our food tour of Bayonne. Totally worth the bus ride over from Biarritz. The old town has so much character and culture and our guide Carim from artsyfood.club was exceptional. Great guy to chat to with impressive local knowledge. Totally recommend *****

We were shown truly authentic places of heavenly flavors and given a bit of history of the city. Walked beautiful streets of Bayonne and saw people playing trinquet. Tried the best tuna we’ve ever eaten and more!

Visite incroyable! Karim was super friendly, outgoing, knowledgeable and chill. He knew a lot of cool facts about Bayonne (history and culinary) and the spots he took me to experience the local gastronomy were on point. Highly recommend to try this, as a guide to do while staying in Bayonne or on a day trip from Biarritz, Anglet, etc. Bon appetit!
