We were very happy with this “Gorges du Verdon” shared tour on a Sunday in mid-October, even though the lavender season had ended in July, and there was really no guide to provide a running commentary. Essentially it’s a tour where the driver stops at various scenic spots for you to take photos, have a meal and/or do some shopping. With some tours, they can get cancelled at the 11th hour when there aren’t enough people signing up. We were just so glad this tour by Bingo Tours did not cancel on us, for us to have the chance to see (Haute) Provence with its breathtaking gorges and amazing views. The spectacular scenery speaks for itself. In other words, there’s really no need for any running commentary. You can always google. Back to the tour. There were eight of us picked up from different hotels/lodgings. The Italian driver Dominico was amiable and chatty, and kept us entertained throughout the drive. We were even able to practise a bit of French, with lots of giggles and laughter. Somehow we overcame our fear of speaking because Dominico said he struggled with French himself, and he made it easy for us to simply give it a go and string some simple sentences together. We joked that he was also our French language teacher during the tour. Lol! The first stop was the Cascades - Saut du Loup. While it was nice to see, most travellers would have seen some version of this in some other part of the world. So this was a bit underwhelming. Next was 90 minutes at the 16th century village of Castellane, gateway to the Gorges du Verdon, nestled right at the foot of the famous “Le Roc”. There is a steep 30-minute climb up to the Chapelie Notre-Dame du Roc (par chemin de croix) perched right on top for a spectacular view of Castellane. Then it’s another 30-minute climb down. Another option is to visit the exhibition next to the mayor’s office. There are interesting local exhibits and a corner on the top floor where you can view most of the mountains and the village using a pair of binoculars that’s provided. It’s a perfect option for those who’d rather not do that climb. Lol! Next, as Dominico drove, we ooooh-ed and ahhhh-ed at the magnificent canyons and Gorges du Verdon. We then stopped for 90 minutes at Moustiers-Sainte-Marie (or simply “Moustiers”), considered “one of the most beautiful villages in France”, to climb up to La Chapelle Notre-Dame de Beauvoir, a historical monument built between the 12th and 16th century with a spectacular view. C’est magnifique! C’est incroyable! After all that huffing and puffing up and down, we still had time to have lunch at a cafe with the gorges as a gorgeous backdrop (pun and alliteration intended). Fun fact: the partly Romanesque and partly gothic chapel was known for its suscitations in the 17th century when stillborn babies were brought to life during their baptism. Our final stop was at “Le Lac” (the lake), or “Le Lac de Sainte-Croix”, a manmade lake fed by the Verdon River, where we got to pedal around in a boat. It was such a fun yet therapeutic activity amidst such beautiful surroundings - glorious sun, sky, gorges and waters. Parfait! It was a full-day tour at a very affordable USD135/€127/£111/SGD185/AUD213 per person. Highly recommended!

In September 2023, we visited with some friends Gorges du Verdon, it was really fantastic! nice service, our guide Daniel was very friendly and he drove very safe, I highly recommend!!!

There was a lot of driving, but we saw a lot of variety: waterfalls, beautiful old towns, Verdon Gorge, swimming in the big lake. Stops has a reasonable amount of flex time.

This tour was simply amazing and the highlight of our time in Nice, Dominik could not have been nicer and was very accommodating and impressive driver. We were picked up on time just 5 mins from our accommodation in the old town. We had a lovely group with us for the day. We took in the beautiful waterfalls, and two village stops on the way... stunning villages. Not for the faint hearted and certainly needed our walking shoes to walk up to see breathtaking views - just 8 people on this tour so felt intimate and certainly worth every penny. You spend a lot of time in the car but boy it is worth it. Make sure you take take a paddle boat out into the canyon - this is a must and make sure the driver knows you want to do this from the start and makes time - it is so worth it !! Dominik stayed later so we could to this. Thank you so much Dominik. If I could of asked for more it would have been that the driver gave some commentary on route of the areas we passed through but you cannot have it all. Great group and met some lovely people.

Do not use Bingo Tour company. We did not go on Friday 20Oct because of the severe weather (winds gusting to 60 miles per hour, schools closed and a red alert in Nice) on Friday am. the same weather was present in the area of the Gorge. On Oct 19, 2020 we asked Bingo Tour to reschedule us to 22, 23 or 24 Oct. They refused to do so - saying there was no space available. We canceled the tour. We think it was irresponsible for Bingo Tour to operate this trip in the conditions that existed at pick time (07:50 am) on Oct 20th. We requested a refund in person at Bingo’s Nice office and were told we would lose our fee if we cancelled. We decided to forfeit the $270+ tour fee rather than risk being involved in a serious accident. The auto for this trip is in 8 person VW van + a driver - in our opinion not safe in the conditions on 20 Oct. Read the reviews on Bingo Tours before you booked this trip. Bingo should have operated two tours on Sunday, 22 Oct.

This was a first rate tour - the scenery was spectacular and the two villages we stopped at were lovely and interesting. Our guide Wagner was superb, going out of his way to provide information, to answer questions, to look out for wildlife, to ensure we had toilet breaks and coffee stops.

The pictures don’t lie. Gorge is gorgeous. Mountain drive on the way provide spectacular vantage points. Wish there was more time though at the Gorge.

RATE 5 for the driver! Sceanery was perfect, but the road was very difficult. However, I feel safe when he drove and show us around. (Our driver is the italian guy from florence who was not fluent in English, but in this case.. driving skill is much much more important!). We really enjoy our day.

Great, great venue. I loved the stops a ton. I wish we could have spent more time at each place. The driver was great. The trip was long, but the driver drove really careful, which I think we all appreciated.

Jennifer_K

Our driver was very nice and accomodating. The gorge was beautiful and we had time to kayak, which was amazing! The towns were so charming. It was all worth the scenic drive!
