At this time of the year you can consider having impromptu team building sessions with your group and give everyone a chance to bond before the Christmas break. Many companies put on Christmas movies that provide the perfect platform to not only get in the Christmas spirit but also implant the company message.
You can consider a trip out together to watch a current Christmas movie, book a private screening, or just put up a projector or large TV/Tablet and let everyone gather in a meeting room.
Why not hire a popcorn machine, provide some festive snacks, ask everyone to go fancy dress, or order in some pizza or mobile food truck? So many ways to promote your ideas moving forward and to reflect on the year that has passed.
Die Hard
This classic from the 1980’s is a controversial selection under the Christmas list as a New York Police Officer tries to save his wife and several others taken hostage by German terrorists during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles. This is the ideal Christmas movie for start-ups, showing that my being mobile and nimble you can take on large corporations and disrupt!
Elf
Elf the movie stars Will Farrell playing the main character in this Christmas comedy, seeing him travel to New York to find his biological father (James Caan) and attempt to live and work in the Big Apple. How can this movie help your business? One of the morals of the story is that many corporations can forget the true nature of their business and what their customers want.
The Grinch
There have been many versions of the Grinch, which was originally created by Dr Seuss in 1957; where the main character (The Grinch) grows increasingly annoyed with the ever-growing festive cheer that engulfs the village of Whoville. So, he teams up with his dog to ruin the festive spirit by being a spoilsport. Does this show that there’s no point treating your team badly all year only to throw a party? Support your team all year round with wellbeing activities, perks, and team bonding, and you will benefit from higher production and less staff turnover.
Home Alone
This tale of a young boy (played by Macaulay Culkin) called Kevin is left all alone by his family at Christmas and must work hard to survive from the clutches of two dastardly gangsters looking to steal from nice home at Christmas. The moral here? It doesn’t matter how small you are, if you think clever and develop a winning formula; your business can hammer the opposition (as well as burn their fingers, cover them in feathers and put a nail in sensitive places).

Released in 1946 in black and white “It's a Wonderful Life” is a true Christmas classic with a tale of one man’s mental struggles at Christmas only to be saved at the last moment and shown all the achievements he has produced in his lifetime. Does your company honour achievement in your business? Perhaps you are considering rewarding at Christmas, but consider during it all year round so achievements are not forgotten and bad feeling can fester.

Arthur Christmas
Arthur Christmas is a modern take on the classic Christmas tale of how Santa delivers so many presents to so many children on the morning of Christmas Day, and this animated movie has become a big favourite for many families. After a technical glitch there is impending disaster, but Santa’s son saves the day – this highlights the importance of ensuring your technology and methods not only keep up but are better than the competition.
The Santa Clause
This Christmas comedy from the 1990’s has spawned a number of sequels, but the original is a tale that is often seen in many companies. The movie stars Tim Allen who accidentally causes Santa Claus to fall from his roof on Christmas Eve, meaning that he and his young son must finish the Christmas deliveries. Does your company have a plan B? A strong succession plan across all departments? Don’t wait until Q4 to resolve issues as not everyone has access to Christmas magic!
