Bibury

Bibury - “the most beautiful village in England” On arriving into Bibury you may think you have been transported back to a different age. The village was once described by the British poet, artist and novelist William Morris (1834-96) as “the most beautiful village in England”. Bibury’s attractions includes Arlington Row, a 17th century row of weavers cottages built of local stone next to the River Coln. It is one of the most photographed areas in the region and was chosen as a location for the 2007 film ‘Stardust’. Close by you will find the Bibury Trout Farm and a Saxon Church. The River Coln flows between the main village street and a watermeadow: together with Alrington Row as a backdrop, it makes one of the most picuresque scenes you will find in the Cotswolds. Arlington Row

It’s easy to see why William Morris called Bibury ‘The most beautiful village in England’ – wonderful stone buildings strung out along the banks of the River Coln.

Burford

Burford – “Gateway to the Cotswolds” Burford is known as the gateway to the Cotswolds. Its High Street slopes from the high Wolds, where you have beautiful views over the open countryside, down to the willow fringed River Windrush in the pretty Windrush valley. Choose to visit Burford’s numerous small shops offering Cotswolds cheese, quality meats, freshly made cakes, antiques and books.

Bourton-on-the-Water

Regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in England, Bourton-on -the-Water has a unique appeal to visitors and residents alike. Known as the Venice of the Cotswolds, this one village offers a wealth of attractions and shops, restaurants and tea rooms, or simply the space for you to enjoy some tranquil time by the River Windrush, spanned by its five arched bridges. Bourton-on-the-Water’s most prized feature is its tranquil river. Fed from many springs, its source is approximately ten miles from the village, and even in the 1976 drought the flow continued. Where the river enters the village centre, over the rapids next to the Old Mill, its clear waters flow under a miscellany of arched stone bridges past the green with its banks of Cotswold stone.

This was a great trip and the host was very knowledgeable. The villages were beautiful. I wished we had a little more time in the villages for shopping

I took the day tour to the Cotswolds, a lovely region of England. We went to 3 villages that were picturesque and a nice change from London. Our guide, Manon was excellent as was our driver Nathan. The only drawback to the tour is the slow traffic leaving London deducts time from the time you spend in the Cotswolds.

Great day out despite the weather being drizzly. Certainly did not dampen the day and the beautiful Cotswald's. Angela our tour guide was very informative and able to answer questions asked. Abdi was an excellent driver. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Great tour, pacing was comfortable. Our tour guide, Angela, is very friendly and informational. She gave us enough time to explore on our own (1.5hrs each village).

Great excursion!! Not only was the scenery beautiful and the villages quintessentially English, but our guide Simon was extremely personable, funny and informative. A must!!!!!

Simon was a good tour guide, he kept us entertained during the bus ride. Lawrence was a great driver. The villages are very picturesque and the people are nice. My only disappointment was in the number and quality of places to eat. We did fine some good stuff but was expecting more I guess.

Very informative talks on the bus from Simon. We were then dropped off to wander the villages on our own. A change of itinerary resulted in a visit to Stow-on-the-Wold which turned out to be my favourite stop.

Simon was an excellent guide. Should win #1 guide of the year. Lawrence was a hero driver. Do to NO ones fault we couldn’t see Bourton on the water. No ones fault. If I had known, we may have taken a quicker tour and done Stonehenge instead. This was a true bucket list for us as my partner has cancer. We had plenty of time at first 2 sites, but would have liked more time in the last one.
