Excellent tour from start to finish with Rick, a chef, foodie and historian of sorts. He kept us entertained and engaged for some 3.5 hours, starting with a stop at a local Indian food shop to provide context for the recipes we’d be enjoying. We made several stops along the way, enjoying a chickpea starter and light fritters, then moved onto a curry joint serving Chana puri, then lamb curry with spinach, spicy chicken curry, and a lovely yellow dal and butter naan and a huge bottle of Indian beer. We then stopped at an Indian sweet shop and picked up a box of Indian desserts, which we brought with us to our final stop, a famous Pakistani restaurant serving copious portions of lamb chops and kebabs with garlic naan. It was a delicious and engaging experience and Rick is clearly enjoying what he does. The only small knock on the tour was that it was a little hard to hear what our guide was saying at times due to the din in the restaurant or on the busy streets, but that’s all a part of the charm of this gritty, boisterous Brick Lane adventure.

This tour is so good, I did it twice. This time as a present for my sister. We had a different guide this time, so although the tour was pretty much the same food-wise, he brought a slightly different narrative with him, albeit the more salient points about the history of Brick Lane, were of course, the same. It's a good mixture of food, history and fun. Lots of information about Indian spices, visits to places you may not otherwise go to, and a great 'secret' place to end the tour with. Not just a tour for tourists, we're pretty much 'locals', and the history of the area alone, is really interesting. The tour lasts around 3 hours, and you will definitely be full by the end. Can't recommend this enough, looking forward to trying some of the newer tours that they do.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes Indian food. The tour guide was very knowledgeable on explaining how the food is prepared and the different ingredients used to make dishes. I learned so much about the different ingredients that go into Indian food to give it that great taste. The restaurants we stop at had amazing food and good size portions of food.

We loved every minute of this tour. Our tour guide was Riki, and although we signed up for the group tour we were the only ones there. So we set off into the dark, rainy London evening (perfect London weather, really) as Riki shared how the last 500 years had led up to Brick Lane being the epicenter of South Asian cuisine in London. Our first stop was a shop where Riki showed us the exotic (to us anyway) vegetable, lentils and spices used in South Asian cooking. Before this tour, I didn't even know that mustard oil was a thing! We then stopped at several restaurants, each one even better than the last, trying different fritters, curries, naan, kebabs, and the lamb chops - I will never forget the lamb chops. If you have any interest in learning more about Indian food (or are completely ignorant about it, as I was) then TAKE THIS TOUR.

Thanks, Riki for this lovely evening. The food was really good and the conversations even better. It was cool to get to know about Indian cuisine and the Indian spices workshop was really cool too. We can definitely recommend this tour!!!

Very happy with my Secret Indian Food Tour in East London. Food was great, varied and plentiful. When I believed it was over, we still had two places to go! Please go with an empty stomach! Guide Dhanashree was knowledgeble and great company during the evening, she provided that extra bit of care that made me want to visit again. This was extra important as a solo traveller.

This tour is fun and laid back. Our guide, Shorif, took us to four great spots where we ate our fill of delicious food. Don’t eat before this tour. You’ll want plenary of room to enjoy every bite!

We had a wonderful experience once we finally got with the tour! First, we were a family with older children, early 30’s, not teens. There aren’t enough descriptors above to correctly identify our group. The instructions for this tour are to meet outside the white chapel gallery at 5 pm. We were there on time. Got caught up with a tour guide that we eventually realized WAS NOT OUR TOUR! It was the Jack the Ripper tour, which we slowly realized we were in the wrong place. That tour guide did look at our tickets and said ‘ok’. Thankfully we had a communication from the correct tour, the Indian Food Walking Tour, and we were able to connect with our appropriate tour. We were so relieved that we were there. Our guide reassured us and did her best to smooth things over. It was wonderful once we relaxed. Fabulous food and we learned much about the culture of the neighborhood.
