We had so much fun getting acquainted with Northumberland through this tour. Our tour guide was Keith who is very knowledgeable of the history of the region and he made the drive very fun and interesting! Tips: With Lindesfarne be sure to see the the Church and grounds. The outside of the priory can be seen and explored without admission. Be sure to also take a few minutes and capture some good views of Lindesfarne castle while on the island. With Alnwick choose either the castle or Alnwick Gardens. IMO, While each is equally fantastic there isn’t enough time to do both.

First off, Angela was a dream. She was friendly, funny and made the tour extra special. We had plenty of time at the sites. Clean and comfortable coach. No complaints at all!

Had a lot of fun with Angela, our lovely guide and driver, who brightened up the trip with her knowledge and humour. Everything about the trip was organised, timely and welcoming. The sights were really nice and I was delighted to have the free time to explore on my own a bit too.

Angela is an absolute gem and she definitely made the trip more memorable with her humour and stories. The sights are really pretty, the history interesting- even the notoriously indecisive weather doesn’t take away from the charm of the trip

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Howard! We traveled south from Edinburgh and he stopped so we could walk across the bridge where the border lies between Scotland and England. We next had a lovely stop in Etal and walked the ruins of the castle with time for tea and cake at a lovely spot in town. Next we headed to Alnwick Castle. I really enjoyed the castle and the gardens are spectacular! Do not miss them! There is also a poison garden that requires a tour so if you want to do that plan for a 30 min tour. I enjoyed seeing the flying lessons at Alnwick as of course, this castle was a location for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Next we traveled to Lindesfarne Castle and Holy Island. The castle closed fairly early in the day so we could not go inside but could walk to it and take some great photos. There was also time for an ice cream stop at Lindesfarne! Howard is very knowledgeable with his history and polite and accommodating. Great tour! Thank you!

We had a great day with Angela! Unfortunately, the bus had issues and broke down at the castle. However, she handled this so professionally and could not have been kinder to us. At the end of the day, she arranged for another bus to pick us up and return us to Edinburgh. We really liked that this tour was smaller, compared to the big buses that we also saw that day. We stopped at Holy Island and then Alnwick Castle. I would fully recommend this tour and Heart of Scotland tours.

We had a great trip with Calum as our guide! Lindisfarne was incredible and I appreciated the amount of time we had at each stop to explore.

The tour operator was very nice and she did a great job, but we got half a tour. The bus broke down halfway. They called alternative transportation to take us back to the starting point, and nothing was offered as consolation.

Michael_M

The Alnwick Castle was exceptional. The tour guide/driver was great with many discussions of Scottish culture, politics, history and literature. The one downside is that it is a long bus ride coming and going from Edinburgh.

Stephen_W

It was a great, well paced trip. I wish we could spend more time on Lindisfarne but I also understand why that’s not possible given everything you get to see on this trip. Alnwick was fascinating, I recommend doing one of the guided history tours.
