Pompeii Archaeological Park

The ruins of Pompeii are a vast archaeological site in the southern Campania region, near the coast of the Gulf of Naples. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried under meters of ash and pumice after the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The preserved site features remains of excavated streets and houses that visitors can freely explore.

Admission Included

Forum

The Civil Forum represents the center of the daily life of the city, all the main public buildings for the administration of the city and justice, for the management of business, for commercial activities, such as markets, overlook it, in addition to the main places of city worship.

Admission Included

Tempio di Giove Capitolino

The Temple of Jupiter dominates the northern side of the Forum, and Vesuvius rises spectacularly behind it. With the deduction of the colony (80 BC) the temple was the subject of a radical renovation and became a real Capitolium, with the three cult statues of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva, which imitated those of the Capitolium in Rome, placed on a high base, so as to make them visible to those passing through the Forum square.

Macellum

The Macellum of Pompeii was nothing more than the city market where people could buy food. Located north-east of the Forum, the complex had to remain out of the way from the square so as not to create too much crowding, given the high number of people who certainly frequented it.

Admission Included

The baths that we can admire today were built in the 2nd century BC, a period in which Pompeii underwent a major building renovation. In the spa not only did people bathe, but they also discussed politics, battles, trials, women... it was the city living room where the events of the day were discussed.

Admission Included

Lupanar

(Pass by)

The brothel of Pompeii, with its erotic paintings, is one of the best-known buildings of the excavations and had the function of a brothel.

My first solo trip and they made it amazing. The weather wasn’t great but we all made the best of it and had a great time. Great views!

Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius were both worth the experience. The lunch at the winery was ok, not great. Our guides throughout the tour were kind, patient, and knowledgeable (thank you Paola, Gino, and Miguel). Definitely recommend going. Maybe just adjust expectations about a wine paired lunch.

Our group went on the tour that included a tour of Pompeii in the morning, lunch with wine tasting, and hike up Mount Vesuvius in the afternoon. We even stopped off for a lovely Limoncello tasting on the way back to Sorrento. We had a fantastic day. The tour was well coordinated as the crowds can be overwhelming at Pompeii and this company knows how to manage this aspect well. The tour guide at Pompeii was excellent. Lunch was at a lovely winery , then on to Mt Vesuvius. Of note, wear sturdy, climbing shoes that you do not mind getting dirty. This is a real hike up to the top, but totally worth it! Amazing views. On the way back to Sorrento, we stopped for a Limoncello tasting which was fun. The tour company picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel which was very helpful. Highly recommend this tour.

Our tour guide, Paola, was INCREDIBLE! We loved her knowledge, her sweet demeanor, and we loved that she had some fun surprises for us - the Cameo making/shopping before Pompeii, and the fun limoncello stand just down the hill from the top of Mt, Vesuvius was SO interesting and quirky and full of tastings of chocolate and interesting limoncello flavors! Loved it! However, the tour we had for Pompeii felt a bit rushed (NOT Paola). Once we got to Pompeii, we were handed over to one of their tour guides who led us through. I know we booked this tour with A LOT to pack in for the day - Pompeii, wine tasting and lunch, and Vesuvius - but, had I to do it all over again, I think I’d have done Pompeii on my own, using the app they provide, just to be able to avoid the crowds and spend more time. That being said, we enjoyed the winery tasting and lunch VERY much and we were glad to have had the time to do it! About Vesuvius: PLEASE KNOW YOUR PHYSICAL LIMITS. If you have ANY issues with hips, knees, feet, or heart issues, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE THE CLIMB. It’s VERY rocky. It’s VERY steep. It’s VERY hot. We had to wait on our bus for over 45 MINUTES for an older woman who had to be brought down by ambulance because she had bad knees and couldn’t make it. We were upset with the lack of communication from the tour company that we were just made to wait on the bus all this time after our climb. There are NO accessible bathrooms on Vesuvius, and we had all just had lunch and climbed to the top with large bottles of water. We were given a specific time to be back to the bus after our climb to the top of Vesuvius. We should NOT have had to wait on the bus for an extra 45 minutes for the person who couldn’t make it back on time. Again, do NOT do this hike if you’ve got ANY sort of joint/heart condition. IT. IS. STRENUOUS. That being said, the trip back was lovely, with a stop at the aforementioned limoncello stand with toilettes and goodies. We drove back into Sorrento overlooking the Bay of Naples with a beautiful sunset. This tour was unique - especially with the winery portion of it (it’s a gorgeous winery with “Insta-perfect” photo spots), and Paola was so lovely. Highly recommend for those in good shape to make the climb.

Our driver, our host Paola and our guide Enza all went above and beyond to make our day very special, including a stop at Pete's for Limoncello!!

Everything about the tour was great. However they picked up over half an hour late. Also the address given navigates across the street so giving the name of the bar would have been quite beneficial. The guides and driver were fantastic.

This is one of the tours you should select. Paola was an amazing host on the tour, lots of little info nuggets along the way, was just the right amount to know that you would otherwise miss out if just taking the train. Once in Pompeii, Margherita took us around and was very good as well!! It was again the right amount of information and facts about Pompeii, but with a good amount of humour. The one improvement we would suggest is the lunch stop. It started off well, but as it was extremely busy we waited a very long time for the pasta (over 20 min) and we had already finished eating and still waited an additional 20 min for wine. Some tables in the same tour as us had wine twice, while others had not been served. The hike up Vesuvius was well worth the sweat, amazing views everywhere and certainly should make sure you have water for the trek. On the way back we stopped at a roadside shop for the toilets and also to sample the products. He was very passionate about the products and no obligation to buy, but we did. It was an outstanding group of people that made the day memorable, from Paola to the drivers and tour guide in Pompeii. I would recommend this tour.

We loved this tour! Claudio was a fantastic guide through the Pompeii excavations, sharing interesting stories and painting a picture how life was pre-eruption. The climb up Mt Vesuvius was amazing! The views from the top were spectacular and well worth the climb!

Susan_D

The tour was so much more than we expected, Paola was great, Pompeii was amazing, it was hard to get to every thing due to the crowds. The lunch was delicious as were the wine choices.. Mount Vesuvio was spectacular, plenty of time was given to walk up and down, it was steep, but we went slowly, it was fine.It was a wonderful experience.
