1. Painting Class
Whether you are looking for a class where you each paint your own masterpiece or work collaborative, painting is a wonderful way to bring joy, smiles, and certain sense of relaxation to the department. Painting is great for mental health and will help the team escape to a different place mentally.
2. Board Games Afternoon
This is a very low-cost way of boosting morale. You can hire in board games, but why not ask each team member to bring a board game each. Turn off the phones, create a nice area in the workplace where the department can compete and work together in a range of board game challenges and puzzles.
3. Meditation
Many employees will suffer from vitamin D deficiency in the long autumn and winter months. One way of boosting employee mental health is to offer meditation classes in the workplace. Help your team beat the winter blues and help reduce workplace stress. All you need is a quiet room and an instructor, and off you go.
4. Quiz Night
Everyone loves a quiz night and it’s such as cheap and easy way to boost morale and team spirit. You have the option of booking a quiz master, a venue, and catering; or you can simply task some members of the team to create the questions and be quiz masters. See if you can book an area of the workplace for the quiz, connect some music speakers, and perhaps order in some pizza.
5. Baking Class
Home baking has become more and more popular with the rise of baking TV shows, and Covid-19 turned many people into home bakers. Many cookery schools will have a specific range of classes for baking including making biscuits, cakes, or bread. The work involved, the smell of the results, and the joy in tasting the delights will help bring smiles to the department.
6. Have a dog day
Dogs have a true positive impact of people’s mental health so consider having several dog days. Either hire a specific team who will bring specially trained dogs to be petted by members of the team or see if your employees would like to bring their own dogs to the office. Many dogs feel lonely whilst their owners are at work all day so it’s a win-win situation!
7. Paddle Boarding
Paddle Boarding or SUP is not just a summer or warm weather experience; in many locations you can still have this experience even as the temperatures drop. Don your wetsuit and spend time as a group out on the water – it will be great for team morale as well as physical and mental health.
8. Bird Watching
Autumn is a season of change, leaves turn to yellow or brown, animals begin to hibernate, and importantly many birds migrate. Some arrive from colder climates, other leave for warmer locations; but either way there is a great deal going on. See if you can get a local guide to show you the best places to birds in the wild. It’s a great way to leave the office, get some fresh air and enjoy nature – ideal for mental health.
9. Office Silent Disco
A silent disco is great is you want to bring some smiles to the team this year! With the latest headphone your team can chill out to the latest tunes, dance around the office to house music, or even relax to the sounds of the sea! Whatever you decide the beauty of a silent disco is the fact that you won’t argue over the music or annoy other people in the office with loud noise.
10. Craft Workshop
With so many craft workshops on the market, it’s so easy to find an activity to suit the season, and one that can be delivered to your office. You could consider some seasonal activities like Christmas wreath creation, perhaps candle making to bring a warm glow to the dark nights, or even knitting workshops to help you create something warm for yourself or loved ones this winter.
