1. Ugly Christmas Sweater Party
Remember that Christmas sweater that your auntie knitted for you? Reindeers and snowmen in bright red? Well find it in your cupboard and get ready for an “Ugly Christmas Sweater” where all the guests compete for the worse or ugliest sweater! Hire a DJ, order some Christmas themed catering, and let the worse outfit win the prize!
2. Celebrate the best in Christmas movies
Even the Grinch would have their own favourite Christmas movie, so why not have a party that celebrates the best in Christmas films? Ask your team to dress as their top Christmas movie characters, and perhaps even theme the food or decorations. A party where everyone dresses as “John McClane” from Die Hard and parties at the Nakatomi Plaza? You only need a white vest and lack of shoes! The world needs more Kevin’s from “Home Alone”, and who wants to be “Bad Santa” this Christmas? Bah humbug!
3. Candle making workshop
Book a candle making activity for your team this Christmas. The team will bond over learning the art of candle making and being able to enjoy the warmth and aromas of those winter spices and orange peel. A good activity where the participants can take something home to enjoy with family and friends, perhaps you can even provide some mulled wine and Christmas treats?
4. Go Alpine this Christmas
No matter where you are in the World images of Christmas conjure up ideas of warmth fires, snow falling, knitted sweaters, mulled wine, chocolates, Christmas trees surrounded by presents, and perhaps a delightful fondue for dinner. Why not go all out and make your Christmas party alpine themed? Skies and snowboards optional!
5. Unwanted Christmas present exchange party
Everyone (and I mean everyone) gets gifts for Christmas that they either hate or can’t use; so why not have a bad present exchange party? Every guest brings something they are more than happy to part with, and everyone hopefully goes home with something they would like or at least get to use.
6. Book some virtual entertainment
Covid-19 saw not only many people working from home, but also working across wide ranging areas of the World. Today many companies have a mix of home workers, full or part time office teams, and groups in different parts of the World. One way of combining these teams for Christmas is a session with a virtual artist playing music, providing tricks, or jokes direct from anywhere in the World to your mobile devices.
7. Christmas Tunes Party
What has Wham! Shaking Stevens, Band Aid, The Pogues, Mariah Carey, Wizzard, Elvis, Nat King Cole, and Alvin and the Chipmunks have in common? The answer? They have all had Christmas hits in the music charts. Not only can your party DJ play these tunes, but why not have a fancy dress contest?
8. Wreath making workshop
A popular Christmas decoration in many homes is a Christmas wreath. Made up with a mixture of flowers, dried fruits, leaves, twigs, and ornaments, they are used to signify the period of advent. Many craft suppliers will deliver not only the materials but also the expertise to your workplace, allowing the team to create their own designs to used on their own doors at home. Order in some nice Christmas party treats, and perhaps some sparkling wine to let the experience "pop".
9. Celebrate your own childhood Christmas
A unique party would put the onus on your team being creative! Ask your team to get dressed up from a Christmas memory from their childhood. It could be a movie, a theatre event, a TV show, a present, a party, or a song – but it will make your party stand out from the crowd and create great memories.
10. Christmas Carol-oke
Get festive with your team this Christmas, and jingle bell your party with a session of Christmas themed karaoke! Take to the microphone with a range of Christmas classics including “Rocking around the Christmas Tree”, “Stay another day”, “All I want from Christmas”, “Last Christmas”, “Mistletoe and Wine”, and “it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. Specialist karaoke machines can be hired for the evening with delivery and pick up direct to your location.
