Venice

We will explore Venice’s back-streets to find the best bacari where you will mingle with locals. You will learn (and taste) what ‘cicchetti’ are (and why you don’t have to call it tapas! ) and why we call ‘ombra’ a glass of wine. The tastiness of Cicchetti will delight your palate, the variety of wines will tickle your soul and the local atmosphere will win you over. This tour is a perfect introduction to Venice and will give you the confidence (thanks to all the precious insider tips and info shared by our local guides!) to keep exploring it by yourself avoiding the classical touristy traps. Moving on the back-streets we will stop in 4 different bacari where only locals go to fully experience the Venetian ritual of a Bacaro tour! You will taste 5 traditional cicchetti and 4 glasses of wine (not forgetting our bubbly prosecco!) learning their recipes, history and characteristics. You will explore Venice walking from one bacaro to the other on quiet alleys full of atmosphere. During the morning tour, we will also visit the local market (fish, fruits and vegetables), from where the fresh ingredients used to prepare cicchetti come. The tour will end in campo dell’Erbaria a lively little square close to the Rialto bridge on the market side, a place full of history and other interesting bacari where to go after the tour.

Our tour guide Elisabeta is a local Venetian who did an excellent job of explaining life in Venice as well as educating us on the local food and wine. She took us (family of 5 with 3 teens) to several places frequented by locals, catered to our food preferences, and gave us tips to navigate the city. After 2hrs with her, we felt ready to explore Venice on our own. Plenty of delicious food and wine along the way! Highly recommend as a great tour to start your stay in Venice!

Elisabetta was a marvelous tour guide on this walking, dining, and drinking tour of Venice. We arrived in the middle of the day and took the tour in the evening, partly to learn more about what kind of food is typical of Venice. We also wanted to learn more about places that were off the beaten track. This pleasant evening exceeded our expectations. Elisabetta is a local, born and bred in this tiny but sometimes confusing city. She let us know about the history of the island, which came naturally to her. She knows everything! From the oldest church to how the city can exist in a lagoon, from its ancient practices of sustainability to the origins of its unusual dishes, Elisabetta was a font of expert knowledge. Perhaps most important were the customs and specific dishes of Venice. To be honest, despite some research on our part, the dishes have been mysterious to us. Having Elisabetta walk us through the ingredients was a treasure. Instead of being too afraid to order items we don’t know, we are ready to tackle everything. And thank goodness! It is delicious! PS despite my physical disability, the walk was easy and comfortable. I cannot recommend this tour enough. If you love food, wine, and culture, it’s for you.

We just finished our tour with Elisabetta and we highly recommend it. We have been to Venice in the past, but learned so many new facts about the city and the food. Elisabetta is passionate about her home town, and it was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with her. She introduced us to new - and very Venetian - dishes, and they were all delicious. Also tried Venetian wines that were new to us. A great way to explore the Bacaro of Venice!

Elisabetta took our small group on a food and wine tour. We got an insider’s look into some really awesome places that I don’t think we would have found on our own. We were introduced to some traditional Venetian foods that were unique to us and really delicious — for example the baccala mantecato; creamy salted cod served on toasted bread. (Yummy!). Elisabetta is a warm and witty woman with great stories to tell and an intimate knowledge of beautiful Venice. A tour with Elisabetta is a must.

We are a family of four (kids 18/20) from the U.S. touring Venice for the first time. Elisabetta is Venetian and her passion for the city and the history is evident. We were so lucky to have her as our guide… the tour was incredible and it felt like we were locals hanging out as old friends. She is such a wonderful person. She introduced us to many new types of food typical to Venice and had plenty of wine to pair with it. Thank you Elisabetta! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! And for anyone reading this review, just go ahead and book this tour… you won’t be disappointed. 😁

My husband and our two friends had the absolute pleasure of Elisabetta being our tour leader for a food/wine experience in Venice. She’s so warm, friendly and has the best sense of humor that kept us laughing the entire time! Elisabetta also shared interesting facts about Venice as we made our way from one place to another. She took us to spots that locals go to that we would have never found on our own - which we loved!! The food/wine at every place was terrific and she made sure we got food based on any dietary restrictions!! At the end of the tour Elisabetta asked if we needed help getting a reservation for dinner and she called restaurants to seamlessly help arrange a table for that night - it was so sweet! We highly recommend Elisabetta for any tour you are looking for during your time in Venice - would give her 10 stars!!!

We had a very nice tour with Elisabeta. She is a local Venetian and shared the cities rich history with us. We visited 3 restaurants and tasted multiple chichetttis, Prosecco’s and even a traditional Venetian Spritz (not the same as Aperol). It was a fun afternoon and we would recommend.

We had a great tour with many informations about the city, tasty food and fantastic wine. The guide and bartenders are very friendly and you always feel like in a group of friends. Even for afterwards we got tips for good locations. Got drunk, 10/10 would book again.
