Palazzo Ducale di Mantova

The Mantua Ducal Palace entrance ticket allows the visitor the complete visit to the Ducal Palace, including Castel San Giorgio with the Bridal Chamber, the Old Court and the art collection Romano Freddi. The most famous work that can be visited in the palace is probably the cycle of frescoes that decorate the walls and the vault of the so-called Camera degli Sposi, also known as Camera Picta, inside the Castle of San Giorgio. The pictorial cycle was created by Mantegna between 1465 and 1474 as a celebration of the Gonzaga family, and especially of the Marquis Ludovico III . A series of grandiose fresco and tempera fat paintings - representing court scenes, monuments and prominent members of the Gonzaga family - almost entirely decorate the walls of the room, while the vault, made by Mantegna with the trompe technique the oil, has a false oculus from which a group of putti observes the interior of the room, as well as eight medallions with portraits of Roman emperors.

Three museums included in admission! The Palace is the Skyline of Mantova! The inside is a tribute to the power and glory of centuries ago! Much art, tapestries, ceilings and floors from another world. Go early, take your time and savory this delightful former home.

Wir hatten zwei Eintrittskarten für 40€ gebucht und bezahlt, mussten aber an der Kasse am Herzogspalast feststellen, dass der zugesandte Voucher nur für das archäologische Museum (Eintritt 7€pro Person) gültig war. Uns wurde offensichtlich ein falscher Voucher zugesandt. Wir mussten daher zwei Eintrittskarten zu je 13€ (insgesamt 26 € ) nachlösen. Meine Reklamation bei tripadvisor mit der Bitte um Rückerstattung des Differenzbetrages blieb bis jetzt unbeantwortet. Sollte tripadvisor nicht reagieren, kann ich künftige Interessenten für eine Vorbuchung nur warnen, derartige Buchungen zu tätigen.

Es handelt sich sicherlich um eine großartige Anlage. Es gibt sehr viel zu sehen. Allerdings im Verhältnis zur Größe dieses Komplexes noch lange nicht alles. Zu bemängeln ist, dass nicht klar erkennbar ist was die beiden unterschiedlichen Preise (19,00 und 12 Euro) beinhalten. Eine kleine Broschüre oder ein Plan wäre bei der Erkundung der Anlage auch hilfreich gewesen. Es kann ja nicht sein, dass alles an der Kasse erfragt werden muss.

ci sono stato con una guida, assieme a 20 persone. la visita per motivi vari tra cui il più importante è il terremoto, permette di visitare ben poco delle 500 stanze, e spesso mi sono sentito dire" immaginate che li', immaginate, immaginate, oppure viene raccontata la storia dei Gonzaga, ma al di fuori di qualche attinenza con con quello che si vedeva ( ad esempio qualche affresco o quadro non originale) era una storia che si poteva leggere in una guida fuori seduto in una panchina. Mi è piaciuto molto di più, la gita in barca e la visita al palazzo Te

L’atmosfera “nobile” che si respira dentro alle varie stanze del Palazzo (ognuna con un nome diverso) ti riporta ad in epoca in cui davvero c’era della ricchezza storica che si trasformava in opere d’arte, per fortuna nostra, anche senza tecnologia... peccato che mi sono imbattuta in biglietteria in una scortesissima signora alle casse, che secondo me non meriterebbe di lavorare nel turismo, perché rispondeva in modo sgarbato a qualsiasi domanda le venisse posta da chi in coda chiedeva info per la visita del palazzo! Anche in Mantova in generale ho trovato “poca apertura” al turista da parte di commercianti e personale dei servizi pubblici, simile alla Liguria dove il turista dà “quasi fastidio”! Per fortuna la città merita così tanto che tutto il resto... passa in secondo piano! Consiglio in bella stagione, anche un giro sul battello 9-10€, con guida turista compresa a bordo, durata circa 1ora e 1/2, ma davvero interessante per storia e atmosfera!
