We didn't end up going on this tour as Frederico was too busy and said shops would be closed on Sunday. So not sure why he would offer the tour on a Sunday. I asked for a refund and he said he would so no problems. However it did not come after a week so I asked him to check it. In the meantime we discovered he did a cooking class. We decided to go and at the same time try and sort out the refund. The cooking class was ok and Frederico was a good host. But unfortunately the pasta is just bland and as Frederico said himself the food in Bologna is overrated. We did get a couple of tips. But too be frank, like most things in Bologna his class was extremely expensive. We eventually got the refund so not sure why it didn't work the first time. We ended up paying for his class on PayPal, they take a massive cut so if you can pay by cash do so. Overall the class was a nice experience.

We did the food tour on our first day and it's a great way to see the city and learn about the local delicacies. We went to a few places to try food that we would not have otherwise found on our own. A lovely way to start the holiday!

We had a blast with Chef Fred, He took us around the old town of Bologna to taste great street food It was highlight of our trip

in a city with such wonderful food this was a fast food tour with no food/drink included. A waste of time.

Our first time in Bologna. The touring of and the historical significance of the non-tourist trap stops we made was exceptional. We would not have discovered these gems if not for our personal tour guide/chef, Federico ("Fred"). All of the stops were low-cost and worth it.

We were extremely disappointed by this “food tour”. It really is false advertising what is described on Tripadvisor. From our experience you will get the following instead: - The total cost is 70 euro (tour price here, plus shared food/wine bill in the restaurant) - we went to one restaurant and had one cold meats/cheese starter and a little bit of pasta bolognese to share, with some wines - there were some explanations about the food and wines, but nothing about Bologna - afterwards we were brought to an ice cream place And that was it. You essentially pay for 2 restaurant recommendations and a little bit of commentry. The guide himself got served a different meal to us, I guess as commission for bringing us to the restaurant. So he just sat and ate different food, while we had the pasta. Our experience was also canceled the day we had booked and moved to another day, I guess to make the group bigger. It is very strange that the good reviews here on TripAdvisor only have 1 or 2 contributions as reviews, seems very fake unfortunately. We are really disappointed as we didn’t have long in Bologna and thought we could have a nice tour in the city. Hope others don’t make this mistake. I understand the guide has to make money, but then the experience description should be honest so people know what they are booking.

Please make your description more explicit by adding more than just once that the food and beverages are not included; for example you can add to your text under "what to expected" something like *please be aware that food and beverages are not included in the tour I give for 39 euros p.p. and therefore have to be paid to the restaurant owners* . Instead you keep replying aggressively on reviews that express disappointment in your tours by commenting that your guests have to read carefully. Don't you feel that's a bit impolite and far from compassionate?! If you really give food tours with passion and sincere intentions, please try to do something with the reviews instead of laughing and repeating yourself in your replies. Learn to deal with criticism and try to learn from the criticism. This being said, it's a last try where we call on you to change your communication and to indicate in as many places in your text as possible that it does not include food and beverages, because that is really not clear from your advertisement. Avoid the image that you have to read the fine print before booking your 'tour'. Otherwise you will continue to give people (your guests) the feeling that they have been ripped off. With good hope, Maartje also on behalf of the rest of my friends

This is a great tour if you want something quick as an introduction to the food in Bologna. It was a bonus that only the two of us were booked on which made it all the more personable. I was really glad I got to try some Torta Di Riso and the gelato was also absolutely delicious. Federico recommend a place for dinner where we had some amazing crostini.

We were hustled. We paid 80 bucks to be seated at a restaurant with other guests for undercooked, poorly sauced “Bolognese” which was nothing more than macaroni, watery sauce and a little meat. When I asked him how he can tell pasta was “al dente” he could not answer. Our tour guide had no more “chef” training than any of us at the table. And, he admitted as much. When confronting him about no tour he replied, “It’s in the fine print”. Tours by Locals never treated us this way. To add insult to injury, we paid 27 Euros per person for our meal. No tour, no expertise, $150 for a crappy meal… “hustled”is putting it nicely. I want my money back.
