San Pietro in Vincoli

Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli was built in the fifth century to house Saint Peter’s chains when he was imprisoned in Jerusalem.

Admission Included

Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore

Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore is the largest church dedicated to Mary in Rome, and it is one of the four papal basilicas in Rome. The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore was built on the site where the Virgin Mary appeared in a dream of pope Liberius. This is also where a blanket of snow appeared on the hill on 5 August in the middle of Summer. This day is commemorated every year with white flower petals that are dropped from the ceiling.

Admission Included

Basilica of Santa Pudenziana

The basilica of Santa Pudenziana is a 4th-century church of Rome, dedicated to Saint Pudentiana, sister of Saint Praxedis and daughter of Saint Pudens. It has been suggested that there was no such person as Pudentiana, the name having originated as an adjective used to describe the house of Pudens, Domus Pudentiana.

Admission Included

Arcibasilica di San Giovanni in Laterano

For a thousand years this monumental cathedral was the most important church in Christendom. Commissioned by the emperor Constantine and consecrated in AD 324, it was the first Christian basilica built in Rome and, until the late 14th century, was the pope’s main place of worship. It's still Rome’s official cathedral and the pope’s seat as the bishop of Rome.

This tour has a lot of walking, but is a welcome and serene contrast to the craziness of the Colosseum and Vatican with the hordes of people. You can enjoy beautiful and priceless art work in these churches and be practically alone. The guide was really nice answering questions and explaining things.
