Your Itinerary

I Trulli di Alberobello - World Heritage Site

Visit of the iconic houses inside and coffee break. The trulli are extraordinary examples of dry stone slab construction, a technique dating back to prehistoric times and still used in this region. Although the rural trulli are scattered throughout the Valle d'Itria, the maximum concentration of the best preserved specimens of this architectural form is found in the town of Alberobello, with more than 1500 structures. The trulli are traditional dry stone huts with a roof made up of dry-set slabs. The trulli served as temporary shelters or as permanent homes for small landowners or agricultural workers. The trulli were built in roughly worked limestone, extracted during excavations for the construction of underground cisterns, stones collected in the countryside and from surrounding rocky outcrops. These buildings have the characteristic rectangular structure with a conical roof in set stones.

Sassi di Matera

Visit to the historic center and lunch break. The name Sassi identifies the two main districts that make up the historic center of the city of Matera, obtained by working the local tuffaceous stone. Partly excavated and partly built, these rock complexes have been inhabited since prehistoric times. Promoted as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993, they represent the testimony of man's exceptional life since the dawn of time.

Castel del Monte

Visit to the Castle. Built in 1240 by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia, the Castle represents a masterpiece of medieval military architecture. Due to its location, the mathematical and astronomical precision of its layout and the perfectly octagonal shape, the Castle reflects the humanistic culture and the vast education of its founder: in fact, Federico II, a lover of mathematics, poetry, philosophy and astronomy, was endowed with a cosmopolitan spirit, so much so that he welcomed Greek, Arab, Italian and Jewish scholars into his court. Castel del Monte has an exceptional universal value for the perfection of its forms, the harmony and fusion of cultural elements from Northern Europe, the Muslim world and classical antiquity. The remaining time of the tour refers to travel by car.

I was trying to figure out how to day-trip to Matera when I found Enzo’s service on TripAdvisor. Worked out great. Met Enzo at Bari Centrale. Since we had some time prior to my tour starting in Matera, he suggested we stop in Altamura on the way. Was able to visit the Cathedral and then we also went to this 500 year old bakery that I never would have found on my own and we got some focaccia pizza for our lunch which was delish. Communication on the front end was quick and responsive and the logistics during the day were seamless. On the return to Bari, before dropping me back off at the train station, he gave me a quick tour of his city and also dropped me off at a spot where I could walk thru the old city of Bari on my way back to the station which was great. Enzo is also a great guy, fun conversations on the way to/from Matera. Would highly recommend!

Enzo accommodated our preferences and even got us in to a quick wine taste as we requested. Lunch recommendation was awesome! Drive was comfortable and he was always waiting for us!

Enzo is an awesome guide with a great knowledge about region and its most beautiful places. We had two day tours with Enzo and he helped us to arrange them in a best way possible - sightseeing, local food, some interesting facts about places we've been to. And all this in spacious, clean and comfortable car :)

Comfortable car. Friendly driver. However we did not get the guided tour that we’re expecting and were left to our own devices to get around at the stops. We may have read the tour information incorrectly

Vincenzo was an excellent guide, very flexible with times. Knowledgeable of the local areas without bombarding you with excessive information. We visited Alberobello and a longer time in Matera, which was perfect. Such a great guide, was like going on an outing with a friend. Would definitely recommend booking with Vincenzo.

If you want to visit the beauty of Puglia and Matera in a comfortable and air conditioned car with an extremely friendly and knowledgeable guide, Ezio’s tour is for you. Enzo was so accommodating that he took us to two other regions, Polignano a Mare and Locorotondo, as well as the scheduled Alberobello and Matera. Grazie Enzo, estato meraviglioso!

We travelled and stopped at Alberobello , Martina Franca and Ostuni for a wonderful appreciation of this area of Pulgia. Enzo then drove us back along the coast road to see the resorts and archaeological site of Egnazia. Enzo was very knowledgeable. His car was spotless.
