What an incredible tour and guide! Romina told us fascinating details, was a great storyteller. We learned things we never would have seen or known. She made our trip incredibly special. We can't recommend Rome Private Guides enough. It was actually our third tour in three days, and each one was the absolute highlight of our trip (or any trips ever. I don't usually post reviews, but seriously, it was just stellar.

Our group of 7 totally enjoyed our Private Tour with Early Entrance to the Vatican and we could not have asked for a better Tour Guide. Our Tour Guide was Rosa! Rosa was very knowledgeable, professional and interesting. You could tell by the way she described the art and its history that she has a true passion for the Italian Culture and loves what she does. She led us through the Museums with ease and answered all of our questions in detail. We would highly recommend the Early Entrance Tour that allowed us to move through the Museums for 3 hours without a large crowd. We were only in Rome for two days and wanted to see as much as possible. We would also highly suggest that you request Rosa as your Tour Guide!

Unfortunately, the tour was incredibly disappointing. The tour guide (Tonia) was incredibly difficult to hear over the earpieces, and frequently disappeared into the crowd, meaning those of us left behind lost signal and couldn’t hear anything she was saying. She had a difficult job to manage a group of 30 people, whilst the Vatican was so incredibly busy and hot, but we attended other tours during our trip in the same conditions, which were so much better. The tour guide never asked if people needed to stop for a rest, or use the bathroom (in the end, a few of us had to just take ourselves off to find a bathroom, as it was clear there wouldn’t be any breaks). She also went into a vast amount of detail regarding Egyptian artifacts, and a printed photograph of a painting in the forecourt of the Vatican, which left us with insufficient time to enjoy the Sistene Chapel at the end of the tour, or to enjoy St Peter’s Basilica. (For full disclosure, the Basilica was not part of the tour, but a few members of the group made it clear they intended to progress onto the basilica at the end of the tour, which shouldn’t have been an issue if the tour progressed promptly). The group was frequently told off by the guide, for standing in the wrong place while she counted the participants, or for walking just a few steps ahead of her. It was clear she was quite annoyed with the group at times, and it left many of us feeling disappointed, having spent so much money on the tour. Overall it was an unsatisfactory experience and we left feeling that we learnt nothing, and wished that we had just brought our own tickets and looked around ourselves. It would have been so much better if the tour focused more on the history of the Vatican, and the Chapel/Basilica, and not on the details of maps or tapestries. At the end of the tour, those of us who wanted to make it to the Basilica had to literally run to make it there in time. I don’t think it is entirely the tour guide’s fault, as the group was so incredibly large, and the only positive I can say is that the meeting point was easy to find, and check in was straight forward. One young girl ended up very unwell during the tour, and had to receive assistance, as it was so incredibly hot, with no rest break. In summary, there are much better tour options available with other companies, and I can’t recommend this one. I raised these issues directly with Rome Private Guides, who confirmed the comments will be taken on board, but stated that the tour did not include the basilica, somewhat missing the point.

The guide was terrible, very weak voice, coughing half of time, very minimal information while “guiding” and said good bye to us 30mins before the intended time of tour. Will Never join tour with “Rome Private Guides” again.

Romina was our guide and she was just fabulous, I would give her ten stars if I could! She gave us a very thorough and entertaining art history lesson about the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel before we started the tour so that we could understand what we would see inside and she was even able to keep my teenage niece and nephew engaged the entire time. She led us through the museum and explained what we were seeing and why it is significant and she allowed us to ask questions throughout the tour. She was just a very kind and extremely knowledgeable person who went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great experience. Thanks Romina and Rome Private Tours for an experience that we will never forget!

We were initially concerned when Rome Private Guides told us our private early entrance Vatican tour needed to be changed. We paid for the early tour to avoid the crowds. After some back and forth they arranged for our tour as booked. Our guide - Romina - was fantastic. She knew her stuff !! She was patient , entertaining and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend her !!!

Letitia Patane was a wonderful guide. Smart and charming, full of depth and fun facts about Vatican Museum and San Pietro Basilica. We enjoyed every moment!

Apart from the obvious and overwhelming buildings and art works of the Vatican museums and Sistine chapel, our guide Matteo was the highlight of the tour. He was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging, and his job is not an easy one... he has to get his groups through the place at quite a pace. Even though we got in early, there are still A LOT of other tourists there too, and to keep the flow through the buildings, one has to go without too much stopping. Matteo managed to get us through everything whilst not making us feel rushed. It's really a brilliant way to see the Vatican etc especially if you don't have too much time in Rome.

I am so glad we booked this tour. Getting in early is the key to a good expeirience. Not only was it breathtaking to see the architecture but the Sculptures and paintings were beyond words. Best of all at the end of the tour we went into St. Peters basilica without waiting in any line. The line to get in went all the way around the courtyard. Our guide Claudia was excellent and crammed a lot of information in to what seemed a short time.

We never went on the tour as we were told that our names went on the list despite having booked and received confirmation from viator.
