Our guide,Maria-Gracia, gave as a lots of interesting information about "The Lady". That's how Etna is called by the locals. The best was, that we had her full attention, cause there weren't 1000 other tourists, as seen later on the tour. That's the biggest plus on this tour, the guide is booked only for you and we can highly recommend it. Mary knows everything about the Lady and can answer every question! Great day because she made it perfect! ps: don't forget the suncream, you can get a sunburn out there very quickly. 😉

In that day the weather was the worst during my stay in Sicily, but my busy schedule did not allowed other variants for the trip to Etna. Two guides organized my trip to volcano – Ambra and Daniele. It was fantastic tour! Not only because of the fact that I am a novice and saw mauntains mostly in books and TV, being inhabitant of plains. Deep knowledge of my guides of local geography, history and volcanology made our trip an impression for the rest of my life! It is not a figure of speech! It was also a short introduction to Italy, for I travelled there for the first time. Fog, cold and hail prevented us from going higher, but, I believe, it was only the first step! Thank you, Ambra and Daniele! I hope to make the second step...

Maria is very personably and guides small groups. She was incredibly informative and took us out for a whole day at Etna. The value in her tour can not be touched by other local guides. Maria speaks English and communicates well.

I have always wanted to visit an active volcano and with the wonderful guidance of Maria Grazia my dream came true. Etna is a brooding presence form many vantage points on Sicily. Driving through the villages in her foothills, hiking along the black paths, seeing the hardened lava flow and setting foot on her craters created great excitement. My husband and I felt very fortunate to have the most personable, informed and passionate guide in Maria. She speaks English, French and of course Italian. When the weather turned bad Maria knew how to manage our experience, handle the risks and time our visit to the crater. She lent me a waterproof jacket and I felt safe knowing Maria was very skilled and highly trained. I loved learning about the indigenous birch trees and sampling the sorrel that grows out of the blackened earth. The views across the mountains and the lateral craters werre astonishing. The visit to the cave was exceptional also and made the day truly memorable. Maria is a not only a brilliant guide but she is a fabulous person to spend time with. Even after the tour we had fun chats on Whats App sorting out the names of certain plants. A spectacular day. Can’t recommend Panorama Sicilia enough!

My experience of visiting Etna with Maria in one word could be described as awesome! Highly recommended! It was very interesting to listen to Maria's explanations. She is passionate about the region! We also went to the wine testing which wasn't on a tour initially, but we really wanted to add.

We were encouraged by earlier reviews to book our trip to Etna with Maria Grazia - and we are so glad we did. For a start, she made things very easy for us by coming to our hotel in Aci Castello to collect us, which we really appreciated as we'd arrived fairly late the night before - and she brought us back at the end of a most interesting and enjoyable day. Before we set off, she gave us the option of visiting the south face of Etna (where Rifugio Sapienza is situated and most visitors tend to go) or the north face. We chose the north face, which is less visited and offers the opportunity to walk on the 'Sartorius Mounts'. These are hills surrounding ancient craters formed in the course of lava flows dating back to 1865. It's not like walking on Iceland's lava flows, which can be jagged and may shred all but the toughest walking boots; it involves walking on black clinker-like material that shifts slightly underfoot - but Maria Grazia kindly lent us her walking pole, so we had no difficulty at all. We had no idea that Etna is such a huge and complex volcano system - quite unlike simple Stromboli, apparently. We learned so much from Maria Grazia about Etna's four summit craters and its countless flank craters, about its unique plants and trees, about the crisis engineering undertaken by local towns that find themselves in the path of lava flows, and the difficulties faced by people who man the rifugios (one recently sustained damage costing around 60,000 Euros when its solar panels were hit by volcanic 'pili' crash-landing on them during an eruption). Maria Grazia also took us INTO Etna, supplying safety helmets and a rope down which we abseiled into a cave system (the 'snow caves') formed centuries ago by cooling lava tubes - and she told us about the people who lived in the cave in previous centuries, harvesting the snow. All in all a brilliant informative and enjoyable day - with the added benefit of sunny, dry, very still weather that meant there wasn't a sound to hear apart from our own breathing! Very inspiring and relaxing.

We had a wonderful day with Maria Grazia and Angela at Etna. They were very informative, kind and extremely helpful. We spent most of our day with Maria Grazia, (who speaks very good English) who came to pick us up at our hotel in the morning and dropped us at the door at the end of our amazing day. My husband is a geologist and very adventurous, and I don't like heights and I am generally scared of everything! Maria Grazia somehow managed to keep us both very happy during the whole day, she listened to all our needs and we both truly enjoyed the experience. I highly recommend booking your trip to Etna with Maria Grazia and Angela.
