Walking along the paths Europe's largest volcano, you'll admire the impressive volcanic structure with its typical flora and fauna. We will cross deserts of black sand, woods, ancient and recent lava flows, old craters up to admire the fascinating VALLE DEL BOVE. We will also enter lava tubes, created during the volcano's eruptions, equipped with helmet and flashlights. It'll be fascinating to descover not only their creation but also the secrets they so jelously conceal in their darkness. We booked this tour. But it was cancelled at half to 11 pm the day before the tour should be conducted. So we had no chance to book another tour. The reason of the tour guide for the cancellation was a bad weather forecast. But as I checked the forecast myself best weather was expected. The next day we went to Etna by public transport and did a guided tour to the summit. The weather was wonderful and also the tour. It is of course ok to cancel a tour, but the reason should be a true reason and not a lie. This is unacceptable. So I cannot recommend to book here a tour. Instead get with public transport to Etna (from Catania for just 6.50€) and do one of the guided tours there.

Chrys and Rafaella led a great tour of Etna. The trail was away from most tourists, which made it more special and they were very knowledgeable about their surroundings.

Awesome place one has to see once in life, awesome lady who told us the stories about the place, answered our weird questions and also gave us mini Italian lessons. Going alone is just not the same thing - the guide gave it the magic touch. We were provided with walking sticks, helmets for a cave we visited at the end (which were necessary, since we bumped with our head at the ceiling of the cave), a water bottle and a small sweet snack. Even hiking shoes were provided. Tip: We advise you to take the provided shoes, because you walk in sand/small stones and sink in a bit and afterwards the shoes were full of small stones and also the wear and tear for the shoes is quite high. Even if you are an older person or don't have such a high fitness level, you should be able to do the tour. That is actually the nice thing: Low effort, high reward! (The place is great and you get transferred quite high by car uphill). If you can control your kids it is also suitable for them - a mountain is obviously a dangerous place. The only negative thing we have to mention: The cave tour is a bit short, but there were >100 positive things and we don't want to spoil your experience, just let yourself get surprised, it is more than just a hike. We were glad we booked it, really deserved the 5*, the guide cared personally for us and didn't see us just as customers. One of our highlights of our Sicily trip :)

The communication and booking of the tour was uncomplicated. Our tour guide was really friendly and chose a beautiful tour - not too exhausting but still a good hike. The landscape was amazing and we met no tourists on the way, only locals. Jumping down the vulcanic sand dunes was our highlight! I recommend wearing long trousers because of some thorny plants alongside the track (I wore shorts and it was still fine). The guide provides you with hiking sticks and when needed you can also request hiking shoes and other equipment. The tour was the highlight of our trip to Sicily and is a must when visiting Etna!!
