Etna North Face Experience

My friend and l booked this tour via Instagram before we went and the communication about meeting etc was excellent. Davide picked us up from the hotel and totally restored our faith in Italian driving. From start to finish it was the most amazing experience. The climbing was adapted to our needs and we felt totally safe. The views were breathtaking with vegetation and stunning craters. There was so much knowledge from Davide about the wildlife and plants as well as Etna itself . It was an amazing experience to spend time with such a lovely person who is so in tune with mount Etna I totally recommend this tour to everyone. Amanda and Sue x

Davide was our tour guide for 15 students and 3 teachers from an inner London city school. He has a high level of english. He not only organised the Mount Etna tour for us but he also organised a trip to Vendicari nature reserve for the second day. He went above and beyond in supporting me as a teacher with organising bus transfers to and from the airport also which is not part of his job role. Davide has exceptional geographical knowledge and his passion for Mount Etna and for Sicily captured the students and teachers on our tours. He has the patience of a saint and is extremely kind. One student lost their phone while walking down the volcano and Davide hiked back up the volcano and spent time with the student to ensure he found it. We had the best experience in Sicily on our trip and this is because of Davide. I cannot recommend his tour guide services enough!

We had such an amazing experience with our guide, Davide! Right away we knew we were in good hands when a new fissure opened up on the side of Mt Etna moments before our hike, Davide felt it was no longer safe so for a while we diverted to plan B, until he got word it was safe (which happened fortunately). We were then able to have the most amazing experience and hike up to the max altitude with incredible views of Mt. Etna - in the afternoon we could see lava flow from about 1.5 km away. Amazing views! The 6 hour hike (both ways) was challenging but doable. Davide was incredibly passionate about Mt Etna; he is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, funny, genuine and a true pleasure to spend the day with. He also gave us amazing tips for the rest of our trip around Sicily, and directed us to some amazing restaurants. Definitely someone you want to experience this rich culture and history with.

I very highly recommend exploring the Etna, with Davide, it's like being on the moon, an unforgettable day. it is not necessary to be in great condition, Davide will adapt to your needs and rhythm. the north face of the Etna has few tourists, which made things even better.

I was fortunate to learn about Davide and his Mt Etna tour from his cousin, who is a chef in Napa. Finally, after 3 failed attempts to get to Sicily (Covid) we were able to tour with him on March 28, 2022. As noted in other reviews, his van was very comfortable for our group of 6 and he was most knowledgeable and passionate about the mountain. As our groups age is over 70, with one person sustaining an injury before the trip, he was most accommodating to our lack of ability. But the main thing that held us back was the snowstorm 3 weeks ago and the wind that day, which seemed like it would blow us off the mountain. We felt like we were on a ski trip with the weather and the mountain was so beautiful. Although we didn’t hike far, (I checked Other for that reason) it was a fabulous experience with Davide and his knowledge of the area. This tour is a must when in the area. We then made a spontaneous stop at a local winery, Murgo, to purchase wine. We finished our day with a lunch and wine tasting at Benanti. That was also a fabulous experience, both the wine and the food. We were sorry to see our day end, as Davide was a wonderful Sicilian to be with and to learn from. We highly recommend touring any part of Sicily with Davide.
