This was a well organized tour. Tour guide was very helpful and kind. He explained everything well. I would recommend this.

The listing that we purchased our tickets through specifically states that customers will have 8 hours in Pompeii with 2 hours of bus ride on either end, totaling 12 hours. For starters, Pompeii is a 3 hour drive from Rome (if you don't stop even for a bathroom break - which this tour did). Secondly, the tour company took everyone on the bus on a tour of Naples, even though only one couple (2 people of about 30 on the whole bus) had bought that tour. The tour of Naples consisted of driving through narrow winding roads in a very large bus with a tour guide who gave us no real information of any cultural or historical value. This took an additional 2.5 hours. We boarded the tour bus at 7:30am and did not arrive at Pompeii until 2pm. We left Pompeii to return to Rome at 5pm. (You can do the math.) We have one family member with mobility impairments who was looking forward to having the time to explore the ruins of Pompeii during this once-in-a-lifetime trip. The map of the archeological park showed a cafe inside, which the tour operator did not inform us was closed. Since we had not yet eaten a full meal, we ended up having to rush through the Pompeii archeological park (due to one family member's medical condition requiring food). We especially chose this tour because of the extended unstructured time in Pompeii that it offered. We did not get that. Additionally, when we tried to explain to the tour operator how disappointed we were, he was condescending and unapologetic (basic customer service no-nos).

I did not have time to visit Naples, but Pompeii was recommended by my wife. What to do? The day trip from Rome solved the problem. My guide was polite, generous, professional, and knowledgeable.

Glad we read the reviews before going. We knew about the 1 hour bus tour of Naples, & glad we’ve now done it. We won’t be back, but fab day trip from Rome. We did self guided tour of Pompei- saved £100, went at our own pace & learnt lots from the ap / reading signs.

Staff were friendly and coach was comfortable, but service was not as advertised - we booked a coach to have quick, hassle-free transport from Rome to Pompeii so we could explore as much as possible (expected to have 6-8 hours at Pompeii), but after an unexpected driving tour of Naples and a couple of pit stops, we only got 3 and a half hours there and had to rush through everything. Would recommend taking the train instead.

Pompeii was amazing. Definitely must visit. It’s incredible how this city is being conserved. We did not choose the guide or lunch tour option and instead opted to pay a private guide at the entrance of the ruins & am very glad we did as it is impossible to view this entire city within a few hours. The guide is necessary to take you to the main sites. Don’t leave without making your way to the amphitheater and museums at the north end. Once we finished at the ruins, we had enough time to dine at Le Delizie Pompeii and had amazing pizzas that were much larger than expected! Highly recommend eating there. Weather was cold but tolerable, honestly preferred during this tour in the cold rather than the heat.

This experience was a great way to be able to get to Pompeii from Rome in a day trip. Our booking covered a tour leader taking us on the bus from Rome and back Enrico the tour leader was great, he gave us interesting info along the way about Rome and Naples and was helpful and welcoming to all. This ticket also included a short walk around Naples with a different guide for about an hour, which was OK (and in Winter Mt Vesuvius isn’t open for tours which we would’ve preferred). We were then given our tickets and dropped at the Pompeii site to organise our own lunch and tour/audio guide if we wanted. Although most of the tour bus did the organised lunch at a restaurant and pre-booked Pompeii tour and enjoyed it, we actually found some cheaper options for both of these, and as a family of 5, it worked out better for to do our own thing at Pompeii. Pompeii is very big so you definitely need some sort of guide, audio guide or guide book to help you know what you’re looking at as there is not really any commentary on signs like a museum.

Driver Luigi and tour leader Raul were excellent. Napoli tour was a little rushed. For the cost , the tour is good. The pompeii area you can do on your own

Not sure how it’s sorted but although my sister and I booked exactly the same tour, together, at the same time, we were separated and saw different parts of the Vatican !
