What an incredible way to see the islands of the Venetian lagoon! We rented a gorgeous wooden boat custom loaded with Prosecco, waters and snacks for our day. Jean-Paul gave detailed instructions on where to go, what to do and how to safely operate the boat. We meandered through beautiful canals, out in the lagoon and around multiple islands. We moored at Sant Erasmo and wandered to the Orto Vineyard. We then made it to Mazzorbo to dock and walk over to Burano for snacks and a lovely walk. This was such an amazing way to see sights of Venice without crowds. We would definitely book again.

Excellent experience- staff was friendly and accommodating. Booked a 4 hr self propel boat for 930a but woke up to rain. Called and company allowed us to switch to 12n as rain was due to end late morning. JP was amazing. He was so personable, provide thorough instructions and guidance and suggestions. Boats were great, easy to operate. Route was relaxing, great way to beat the summer heat. Stopped at an island for lunch and a swim. College aged sons enjoyed the entire experience. Highly recommend!

We've rented a boat before, in Greece, and because the experience was really nice, we wanted to experience the Venice version of that. Everything was seamless, there's a short training explaining you the do's and don't's and off you go. For me, the only thing that took a bit to get a handle of, was the mooring part, but if after my 2nd and 3rd attempts, everything was perfect. We've went on the shortest trip 4 hour one, on a Sunday afternoon so we've had quite a little bit of traffic, which can be intimidating sometimes, since you're the slowest one out there and there's boats passing you at crazy speeds from time to time. Other than that, other boats are quick to give you enough space and it's only their slipstream that you have to handle. All in all, It's was a great experience! p.s. don't forget to bring a swimsuit, we forgot about this and it was so hot that we could've used a bath

Everything from start to finish was a 5* experience. We rented a self drive electric motorboat for the whole day and was quite nervous as never having driven a boat before. However I cant praise the owner enough putting us right at ease and even came out to rescue us when our son messed up the navigation system. It is a whole different experience for Venice and I would highly recommend this to anyone. We will definitely be back next time we are in Venice.

***** if I could leave more than 5 stars I would!! Everything from start to finish was amazing - great booking system, quick & simple responses to any questions we had before arrival. Easy instructions on how to operate the boat and an amazing personal recommendations for the best places to head to. All of the staff were fantastic and so friendly - nothing was too much trouble and they really made the whole day so perfect! Thank you so much for having us, we will be back soon!

Many thanks to Jean Paul and his team for his hospitality, friendliness and good humour during our recent electric boat hire. Very impressed with the focus on sustainable transportation for all his boats and highly recommend. Look forward to coming back.

My husband and I rented a CBV self-drive electric motorboat twice. We were in Venice for five weeks near the end of 2021 and of all the things we did, those two opportunities to be out on the Venice lagoon were among the highlights. Venice is so famous for being a city of water and yet tourists only experience that water in very restricted ways. They can go on the vaporetti (sardine tin style), they can take a gondola ride (80 euros for half an hour), or they can take a quick trip in a water taxi (expensive). Mostly, we tourists are confined to shore, while real Venetians are on the water (the only way they can get away from us). So, we were amazed to discover that we could rent a boat at CBV for a comparative bargain and go out on the lagoon for hours by ourselves. For anyone who is interested in the history of Venice as a once immensely powerful maritime republic then this is a great chance to experience the environment that created that phenomenon. The boat that CBV gave us was a gorgeous traditional wooden “sanpierota”. It was really a pity that there were only two of us since the boat had capacity for six people (although adults would probably be most comfortable with four). We headed out and followed the pre-programmed route on the GPS up to the island of Torcello. Then we left the GPS route, turned into the canal that cuts across Torcello and tied-up at the mooring posts that line the canal. All along this canal are restaurants ranging from the high end to the rustic (picnic tables out under the trees). The mooring posts are owned by the various restaurants and are for the use of their patrons. After lunch we explored the island and visited the church. I’m told that in spring there are flamingoes around Torcello and that in summer there are nice places to swim as well. We also visited the islands of Mazzorbo and Burano. Our boat did not have the permit needed to be in Burano itself (only residents have that right we were told) but we could tie-up at its neighbour Mazzorbo and then go on foot across the bridge that connects the two islands and explore Burano that way. Again, the mooring posts that we found at Mazzorbo were owned by the restaurants that line the bank. One of them has a Michelin star and its own vineyard. No matter which Venetian island you would choose, arriving in your own boat, tying up, jumping out and sauntering into a waterfront restaurant for lunch gives you a strong feeling of “la dolce vita”. Anybody can rent a boat at CBV. You don’t need a boating license because the electric motor is under ten horsepower. CBV also does not actually require boating experience. Of course, they give you a thorough orientation before letting you loose, but I would still say that having some prior practical experience with boats and outboard motors is crucial. The reality is that once you wave goodbye and head out you are all alone and if you are not prepared it can be a bit daunting. The lagoon is not a lake; it is a vast, tidal waterscape of shifting marsh and mudflats. The safe channels through the lagoon are marked by “bricole”, wooden posts in the water, and you must stay within the channels on the correct side of the “bricole”. Otherwise it is all too easy to get the boat stuck in the mud (literally) or break the propeller of the motor by hitting something in shallow water. These channels through the lagoon obviously are used by all the water traffic. Some of the channels are like highways. Be aware that you will be sharing them with vaporetti and lots of other boats that are all much bigger, much faster and much more powerful than your little boat. Those big boats create a fair amount of wake so be prepared. One thing we didn’t have to worry about was getting lost because our boat had a GPS system with a pre-planned route to follow. CBV also gives you a laminated map. Look at it carefully and ask questions before you leave the dock if you want to deviate from the GPS route as we did when we went to Torcello. CBV has a fleet of fifteen boats altogether, I think. Maintaining wooden boats is a huge amount of work, a labour of love really and I was impressed by how beautiful all the boats were, just gleaming with fresh varnish and attractively fitted out. We met three members of the CBV team and they were all super friendly and helpful. It would be perfectly fine to spend a day in the company of any of them. In fact, when we go back to Venice, I think we might rent a boat with one of them as a driver this time so that we can explore a different part of the lagoon.

Absolutely brilliant afternoon with the family. Booked as a surprise for my husband and as a fun way to get our 5 year old and 18 month old a little trip to burano. In a city teeming with tourists even during covid times this was a family delight. Staff could not have been kinder. JP was awesome. Got snacks and juice already ready on the boat and the kids LOVED it. A really nice treat to do something super special and amazing family memories. Soooooo recommended

IT WAS AMAZING! We had the whole day electric boat experience. After a detailed briefing with JP and Jonas we went off for the extended boat trip in the Northern Lagoon. As a very first experience of driving a boat, it was super easy and wow!!! The boat responds to all commands in a very quick and direct way and you can not get lost thanks to the digital GPS map integrated on it. The electric engine is very quiet and gives you the chance to immerse yourself in the lagoon, with its sounds and tastes. The boat Viva (a traditional venetian San Pierota) was very well mantained and equipped with water, towels and speaker bluetooth. Thank you very much CBV Team for your warm welcome and for your professionality and kindness. We look forward to repeating this experience and will recommend it to our contacts 💙🛥

Dear all, We had the 8 hour electric boat experience. After a warm welcome and a detailed briefing we went off for the extended boat trip. The very easy to use boat responds to all commands in a very quick and direct way. The build in GPS map is also very easy to read so there is no trouble or unsolved question where to go. For people who might think about getting lost there is nothing to worry about. Unfortunately there was a regatta going on in Venice so there was no opportunity to moor the boat and get something to eat. But the CBV team was so nice so they gave us the option to moor the boat in the harbour and take a snack on the pizza place nearby whilst getting some extra time on the boat. The next visit to Venice will be connected with a boat trip and we are sure that it will be great again. Thanks a million to all of the CBV team members!
