We waited for half an hour in the cold and rain. When we contacted the company to say the bus hadn’t arrived they said the tour was cancelled. There is no excuse for them not contacting us.

We waited in the cold rain for half an hour to be picked up. It was only when we contacted the operator that they told us the tour was cancelled. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

Meeting destination is very convenient, we came from Milan and met up at the train station - The ride was comfortable and scenes were pretty cool. At the factory they gave hairnets and walked us through step by step how to make the cheese with valuable info along the way which was awesome. The guide which was an ex-cheese maker was AMAZING, He was funny and gave us a lot of info. We did a tasting in the end as well and got to buy some!! Overall HIGHLY recommended we had an amazing time!

The facts: 1. I booked the tour and the site said they would pick me up at my hotel. I provided the name and address of the hotel with the booking which was many weeks ago. 2. The tour operator therefore had the information for weeks and since they operate this area they would or should know that they could not pick up at this hotel. 3. I had many days after booking to cancel the tour with no charge. 4. Has the tour operator advised me at any time during that cancellation period that they could not pick me up I could and would have cancelled and had no charge. 5. When they notified me that they could not pick me up they told me I had to walk 500 meters to a pick up location. 6. This is not the terms under which I booked the tour. Again, had they told me that timely I would have cancelled with no charge. 7. Even after I informed them that I was cancelling, they ended up showing up but at 9am when pickup time was supposed to be 8:30am. I had to check out of my hotel by 11:30am which was the time that the tour was supposed to return me to the hotel. Had they picked me up at 9am I would have been subjected to a late departure charge from my hotel. Therefore, again, had they said the tour would pick me up at 9am I would have cancelled the booking. I requested a refund and it was denied with no explanation or justification.

The tour was extremely unorganised. The pick up/ drop off was just a mess. The tour itself was OK but our guide (who was also our driver) had very poor diction it was hard to understand him. There was another female guide conducting tour in the same room, she had much clearer diction and presence so I ended up just listening to her instead. The worst part was when the mini van just left without informing us. Since we were on a tight schedule (also it was 33 degree on that day and I am pregnant), we needed to be dropped off asap so I asked the guy who appeared to be the manager or the owner if another shuttle was coming to drop us back in the city. We were already waiting 20 minutes by then. He picked up his cell phone and made a dial and spoke in italian that “there are these Japanese tourists making noises”. okay.. little did he know this Japanese tourist (I am not even japanese, I am Korean American and I went on a tour with my mom and two aunts) has an Italian husband and fully understand Italian? I confronted him right away and told him that I understood what he just said and that I found it very rude. He embarrassingly made some excuses and apologised but still. Not Ok.. overall NOT OK

Wish I could tell you about the tour but I wasn’t on it! I was scheduled to be picked up at 8:30a at a local hotel. We were there 10 minutes early. At 8:35 I texted the tour operator. No response. Again at 8:42. I called viator a few minutes later. Gave them my info. Was cut off. Called back. They apologized that their driver was not feeling well. Sure would have been nice had they called or texted me that morning! This was going to be a highlight of Parma. Obviously it wasn’t.

This is a 3 hour tour to a farm-factory making Parmigiano Reggiano. The guide picks you up and returns you to your hotel. Mattia (sp) is top notch tour guide, very friendly and knowledgeable, having grown up in the business. We literally got to see all stages of production from seeing the cows during feeding time (and being massaged) to the packaged output that we could buy. Extremely interesting process and tour. If in Parma, don’t miss it

Very informative tour that taught all the basics of the tradition of producing Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Good for those who want and in-depth tour that explains how the cheese is produced and the history behind its production. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions.

We can 100% recommend doing this tour. Mattia is super friendly and very knowledgeable about the region and the cheese making process. It helps that his parents run the cheese factory so he‘s basically grown up around the cheese and you can tell he‘s passionate about it. Next time we‘re in the area we‘ll definitely book another tour with him!
