Giovanni, our driver, and Paolo, our tour guide, were fantastic. Giovanni skillfully navigated us through Naples rush hour traffic and got us to Pompeii and Herculaneum safely and on time. Giovanni has a great sense of humor too! While there, Paolo was fantastic at answering any questions we had and showing us around the archaeological sites. The tour itself was incredible - Pompeii left a lasting impression and, as someone who just earned a Masters in Historic Preservation, it was very interesting to see how historic sites are maintained in other countries. High marks all around!

Our Viator/Askos tour of Pompei and Herculaneum from Rome on the high speed train was efficiently scheduled and met our expectations. Our archeological guide, Vincenzo, was entertaining, knowledgeable and passionate about these historic sites. It was well worth our time and costs to explore these sacred and historic areas.

Awesome tour! Visiting Pompeii was so interesting. Herculaneum really added to the tour because it was far less crowded & better preserved. Our archaeologist guide, Alfredo, was excellent. He was engaging and so willing to share his extensive knowledge of the two cities with us. The high speed train allowed the trip to be painless & quite fast. I admit I had a bit of apprehension about getting the train tickets just the day before. I had absolutely nothing to worry about. The process was smooth & easy. Communication with this tour company was excellent. They replied right away. If it’s your first time in Rome, you might want to google both the Roma Termini & Napoli Central Termini just to familiarize yourself with the stations. They are both extremely easy to navigate. I highly recommend this tour! If you really would rather see the beautiful countryside & have a wine lunch, a bus tour might be a better choice for you. If however, you are interested in Ancient Rome & crave as much information as possible, this is your tour!

A very insightful and interesting tour. Diego our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate and brought Pompeii and Herculaneum back to life. Francesco our driver was very good at getting us where we needed to be.

We missed the train and the company was so helpful with us to meet up with the tour. The tour guide was excellent

Transportation was smooth and the tour was excellent! Paolo was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. The focus of the tour was on archeological phenomena and what daily life looked like in the two cities. We didn't get to see the plaster bodies that Pompeii is most famous for (except for a couple in glass cases at the beginning of the tour), although it wasn't clear whether they were in a different part of Pompeii we didn't see or whether they've been moved to museums.

The tour to Pompeii and Herculanuem was well organized with good communication. The tour guide, Sergio, has deep knowledge about the ruins and answered all our questions skillfully. The drivers from Naples to Pompeii, to Herculanuem and back to Naples were very courteous and accommodating. Highly recommended

Loved seeing Herculaneum and it was so easy with the van! The only thing that worried me was that multiple other people were confused about whether they were catching the van or a train from Pompeii.

Sites were great. Herculaneum was the highlight. The weather was 38 degrees so very hot. Small group tour was over 20 people. Berated by organiser when we couldn’t locate the group after a toilet break, despite ringing the driver and guide. This was embarrassing in front of everyone. Rushed at some points with no time to look in gift shop, then left waiting in the heat for others to join. Train trip was ok but overall not the most pleasant experience.

Our tour was on a hellishly hot day. We were dropped off at the train station for our return a full three hours before our departure time back to Rome. The driver tried to help us rebook to an earlier train but ended up directing us to the Italo office inside the station. The guides and driver were excellent, but almost $600 was pretty steep for the experience that we had.
