This tour was set up to be a 6 + hours but the tour ended up being over 12 hours- our last stop in Sienna was 3 hours of free time- tour was too long.I believe two tours were added together which created the extra time as there was an additional walking tour of Sienna some of the people on our bus was scheduled to take

It was a very pleasant day trip and we enjoyed going to the Medieval towns of San Gimignano, Siena and Monteriggioni.

The tour guides and bus driver were excellent! They did a good job providing information and managing such a large group. That being said, we would not book a tour with such a large group again. The logistics of walking to the meeting point with 50+ people took away free time that could’ve been used to explore the area. Plus, it was hard to truly enjoy each stop with how little time we had in each place. The wine tasting was fun but also felt like a long sales pitch. Next time, we’d spend more money to book a private tour or even rent a car to have a more intimate, less rushed experience.

We really wanted to like this tour! However, we were quite disappointed with the lack of tour guidance across the scenic places we were dropped off at. Learnt little about each place. Also, our english guide in Siena was earnest and enthusiastic but sadly could barely be understood. Nonetheless, highlight of the day was lunch and wine tasting!

I originally planned to get the train from Florence to Siena and San Gimignano. It was far cheaper than booking a trip, and I could spend more time in both places. However, visiting a winery proved difficult by public transport and I thought that would be fun, so I ended up booking this trip. Sadly, it wasn’t very enjoyable. The itinerary claims you’ll have two hours in San Gimignano - we had 65 minutes, not even long enough to have a swift look round and get a cup of coffee. In Montereggioni, such a pretty little place, we had just 25 minutes within the walls, not the 40 advertised, and in Siena we spent two hours, not the three stated in the itinerary. It was all a rush. The cramped coach was full of English and Spanish-speaking people taking different variations of the tour, which complicated things further. Our guide was pleasant but just ok. We got an extremely basic commentary for part of the bus journey, which wasn’t very edifying. We left the car park in Florence more than 30 minutes late due to the chaotic traffic, and our guide led the group throughout the day at a frantic pace. The lunch was very basic but pleasant, as were the wines - probably the best element of the tour. I really can’t recommend this. Our guide blamed the rush-hour traffic for the problems, but the company does this tour every single day so I’m absolutely sure they know what to expect. Don’t waste your money - hop on the train instead, and spend what you save on a lovely lunch in Siena or San Gimignano.

Great stops to make. Time was tight, but adequate to give a taste of the sights. Wine tasting and lunch were the highlight.

Great tour! Our guide, Francesca, was excellent! The check in process was easy and the bus ride was seamless! We got to San Gimignano early enough I’m the morning that we beat the rest of the tourists and had the town mostly to ourselves. Each stop was the perfect amount of time to see the city and rest for a few minutes, without getting bored. The winery for lunch was very pretty, but there were other tours going on so it was a bit loud. Overall would recommend!

Really enjoyable experience and fitted as much as possible in one day. Tour leaders were organised and helpful and the day ran very smoothly. Plenty of free time which we really enjoyed.

Our less than good experience on this tour had more to do with the Winery visit than it did with the visits to Siena and San Gimignano. Overall the tour guides were adequate, but not great. They shared what needed to be shared but gave nothing extra in the way of background and historical information. The lunch and wine tasting experience on this tour was below average. Though the family run winery was pleasant in appearance and picturesque, the wine was mediocre at best. This could be visibly seen as no one leaving the winery to get get back onto the tour bus was stopping to purchase any wine to take with them. Many of the wine glasses were left untouched on the tables at lunch. The lunch itself was adequate, but nothing to rave about. The outdoor tables were shaded from the hot sun, but the heat still radiated through the tent canvas and made the eating location uncomfortable. Perhaps the biggest disappointment with this winery visit was that the balsamic vinegar tasting that was listed as "what's included" in the Viator booking was non-existent. The hosts were stunned when I pointed out the booking description that spoke directly to the Balsamic vinegar tasting, and indicated that Viator had "over sold" the components of this tour and that this often happened with Viator. I am not sure if this miss was actually with Viator or the booking contractor CAF Siena. But either way, I put the blame on Viator for either over stating the elements of the tour or failure to do due diligence with CAF to ensure that they were carrying out all of the elements of this described tour. For now, I would recommend that anyone looking for a day tour of Tuscany including Siena, San Gimignano, and a good winery to avoid Viator's offering and look elsewhere to book a tour.

The towns are great to visit, well worth it. Just get a private tour guide and go to some more rustic bespoke wineries where both the food and wine is a higher standard. That was our only real negative for the day but as it was a ‘wine tour’ it left us wanting a better experience on that front.
