Luogo davvero unico e di gran valore. Lunga scarpinata dal parcheggio, non sapevo che c'è una navetta... che conduce sin lassù

Quinta visita a San Leo e la più impegnativa. Rispetto a quelle precedenti ho dovuto lasciare l'auto in un parcheggio a pagamento ed affrontare una salita per me, sessantacinquenne, davvero pesante. Non ricordo se nelle precedenti visite si potesse arrivare in auto più in alto o se il fatto che sia arrivata al piazzale del Forte stravolta, col fiatone e tutta sudata sia dovuto soltanto all'età, purtroppo. Mi ha irritata il fatto di non aver trovato personale all'ingresso: c'è un dispositivo per pagare con bancomat o con carta di credito. Ho avuto delle difficoltà ed ho telefonato al numero riportato su un cartello per avere indicazioni da una gentile signora. Il Forte domina maestoso dal punto più alto della rupe: postazione ideale fortificata al limite tra le terre malatestiane e dei Montefeltro; assunse l'aspetto attuale dopo la metà del Quattrocento. Fino all'Ottocento ebbe fama di fortezza inespugnabile, tanto che vi furono rinchiusi Cagliostro (morto qui nel 1795) e molti patrioti antipapalini. In varie sale si possono ammirare armi, arredi, ceramiche, macchine e strumenti di tortura. Nella cella  del Cagliostro, in cui sono posti fiori freschi, ho provato ancora una straordinaria sensazione di mistero e una particolare emozione. Nel locale per informazioni turistiche, è  possibile andare in bagno ed acquistare, oltre a vari souvenirs, anche gettoni per caffè. Le terrazze sono un balcone panoramico sulla Valmarecchia, al profilo del monte Carpegna e la Rocca di Maioletto vicina.
