...due vocaboli latini che racchiudono l'intera storia di questa discarica...Monte dei Cocci. 55 milioni di frammenti stimati, di e/o anfore olearie ormai inutili ed inutilizzabili, formano una collina artificiale di 22mila metri quadrati di superficie con due cime distinte di 34/36 metri l'una e di 50/55 metri di altezza l'altra. Così quello che per lungo tempo è stato " il posto dei rifiuti " viene ora considerato un sito archeologico, unico nel suo genere, perché fonte storico-documentaria, inesauribile, dello sviluppo dell'economia imperiale, degli scambi commerciali fra Roma e le sue province ed in ultimo delle abitudini alimentari della gente del tempo. Molto interessante la visita guidata (da prenotare) che racconta il sito con dovizie di particolari.
