The 3 hours walking experience with the guide, Allessandro, explaining and singing about the history and remarkable things happened and happening in Genua was a highlight when visiting this ancient seashore city. Did you know the model for The Primavera painting of Boticceli was a Genova born girl. We know now where she lived.

We thoroughly enjoyed Allesandro’s tour of Genoa in the old part of the city. We learned so much about Genoa’s past through his stories and songs, what a great way to learn and explore Genoa. The alleys and little corners he took us were accompanied by entertaining anecdotes and historical tidbits. Quite a walk, prepare for at least 3 hours of walking.

Very fun way of learning about places in Genoa the one would not normally find. Alessandro is a wonderful guide and his songs about the certain areas are a unique way to tour the city. He was very friendly and happy to answer any questions I had about Genoa and Italy. I highly recommend this tour if it is your first time to the area.

To make a long story short, I booked the walking Storytelling tour as a solo once he met the minimum number of guests. I then notified Alessandro about a week before that I may need to cancel due to a foot injury. The morning of the tour, Alessandro notified me the other guests had to cancel but if I was still up to it, he would take me solo. So glad I did. Alessandro has constructed a tour that takes you to many of the lesser traveled areas along with the touristy highlights that brings the history and flavor of Genoa to life. He is very knowledgeable and his storytelling songs weave together the history of Genoa and are fun, entertaining and enlightening. One of many memorable moments was when we stopped in this back alley, the site of several historical shops, for one of his five songs. There was some loud noise coming from a construction site high above nearby. Shortly after he started singing, all the banging and sawing stopped and I could see several of the construction workers enjoying the song and scene. Alessandro was sensitive to my challenges due to my still healing injury and paused as needed even though this extended our walk beyond the stated time. This tour was one of the best tours I had during my 12 day cruise and I highly recommend both Alessandro and his storytelling tour. I have recommended Alessandro to several of my friends who are traveling to Genoa and will continue to do so. Thank you Alessandro for the memories and a wonderful tour.

Alessandro was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable, answering many questions and his own sung compositions were a very good mix of informative and amusing. We really enjoyed our tour; we learnt many unusual things about Genoa. The tour is not a substitute for a traditional tour of the main areas and places to visit – it is off beat. We were really pleased we had toured Genoa the day before (self-guided walk plus visiting some of the main attractions) as this gave us a good knowledge base. The tour involved walking up and down various (steep) passages/ paths on a very hot day; bear this in mind for your tour. We endorse the previous Trip Advisor comment about the fascinating insights we learnt from Alessandro. We arrived at the piazza in good time for the tour; a more specific meeting location than the piazza generally would be helpful on the booking confirmation. Thank you Alessandro!

Our guide, Alessandro, met us promptly at the agreed upon time and we only had to wait a couple minutes for the other two guests to arrive, and then we were off walking around two of the older districts of Genoa. Throughout explanations of nuns making chocolate and confectionary goods, liberating recipes for all to use, moneyman pirates, the origins of the word bankrupt, the enslavement of pisians, and the revenge of Barbarossa, Alessandro sang us songs he had written himself while leading us around to different parts of the city. It was a good way to spend an afternoon, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to learn more about the city that is more off the beaten path. My only criticism would be for Alessandro to encourage people to enter the shops he points out and recommends, as they looked good, but didn't have a chance to try anything. Incidentally, we also booked a cooking class when booking the walking tour, and Alessandro also leads that!

Alessandro is a master story teller and song writer who brought the old city alive with fascinating stories of adventure seekers, tradesmen, and sea farers, and songs of wars, fair maidens and more on this walking tour. It was an unforgettable experience and the best way to see the old town, where the alleys are too narrow for any vehicles. Fun for the whole family!

A very fun and entertaining walk through the city. We visited places we wouldn’t have found on our own. They were some quaint and pretty parts of the city. The music played and stories told we’re also a really nice unique touch that made this different from a typical tour. This tour really opened up the city for us and Alessandro was a charming guide
